About
As an actress, voice teacher, and vocologist, I am a proud alumna of Duke University (BA Music, cum laude with distinction) and NYU Steinhardt (MM Music, Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy). Levels: Beginner to Broadway (most recent Bway student seen in Cats and Hello Dolly) Goal: Find your true, authentic voice so that you can sing in a healthy and sustainable way across genres. Provide explanations and directions that make sense using anatomy and physiology. At NYU, I had the rare opportunity to teach private voice lessons to NYU students for 2 years (Steinhardt, Tisch, Stern, Gallatin, etc). My students ranged from beginner to Broadway (one student was seen in Cats and Hello Dolly on Broadway). With over 600 hours of experience at NYU, I have developed a style of teaching that is extremely effective, efficient, and flexible. My main goal is to help you find your authentic voice so that you can produce sound in a healthy and sustainable way with a sound that you love. If you are a singer who is constantly asking why or how and are not receiving answers that satisfy you, I will change that. Having studied voice science through the Duke University Voice Center and the NYU Voice Center under the top SLPs and Laryngologists in the world, I understand how the system works and will guide you towards a production that you will also understand. I have experience working with all major genres (classical, musical theater, CCM, rap, pop, R&B, soul, country, rock, a cappella, etc.) and will cater my lessons to your needs. These lessons are about you! I will work with all voice types, ages, and levels. Experience with college applications/music supplements. Awards: CARA Nomination for Best All-Female A Cappella Arrangement in the United States, Rather Be. (You can find the song on Spotify under Duke Out of the Blue Youth) Singing is full of life lessons. In this world, we are constantly driven by external validation (salary, job title, grades, social media followers/likes) that we start to lose our sense of confidence and happiness. Instead of being driven by societal pressures and norms, I encourage everyone to learn how to internally validate and to make decisions that support their goals. Singing is an incredible way to grow confidence and to internally validate. In my studio, progress happens quickly, and students have those "AHA!" moments that create a carefree happiness and sense of success and accomplishment that is priceless. The lesson is solely about the student and should feel as therapeutic as a massage, but as rewarding as a raise. Singing is fun, but it also is an incredible way to become more confident and positive, even if it's merely a hobby or extra curricular activity.
