Introduction: Whats up friends! My name is Jon Johansen and for the past year and a half I have been working to get the photography thing to take off. What started as a hobby quickly turned something that I wanted to shift to career wise. One picture I took while I was cornering someone at a Mixed Martial Arts event set off a chain reaction. The photo had been used in there social media campaigns and mailers. He put me in touch with another promoter who needed promo photos and someone to shoot the event. With the support of these mixed martial arts and kickboxing promoters I was set on a path of trying to start a new career. From there I took every opportunity to go out and shoot as much as possible trying new techniques and putting myself in different situation. Photojournalism was originally why I picked up a camera something about capturing pieces of history called to me. Naturally when a client invited me to NYC to shoot the planned parenthood portion of the women's march I jumped at the opportunity. I ended up going the wrong way and was in the heart of the march for about an hour before I found my way out. It was an amazing hour that provided an uncomfortable situation to get some great shots. This was probably one of the best learning experiences that I had to date. Finally I was brought back to something that I enjoyed a lot when I was younger.Skateboarding.It called to me again the people the culture all of it was something that intrigued me. So I went to the skatepark and took out my camera one day. I have been fortunate enough to connect with a lot of great people. Being invited to this events has been great but this is where you guys come in! Travel is expensive and I am making a push to make this a full time career! The goal here is to cover the expense of travel to get to these events! Thanks for the read and the support!
