About
As a seasoned instructor I can say without hesitation that it is far better to study with a private instructor than to try to learn from a chain. McMusic Schools like ‘School of Ro_k’ or chain stores such as Guitar Cent_r are lacking. They impose fake drumming experiences such as drum sets with ‘silent’ heads and cymbals, leaving you thirsting for what it’s like to play real drums and cymbals… A good private instructor will not only be a seasoned professional (above age 35), but also have equipment to provide you with a genuine experience such as playing high quality drums and cymbals, usually mic’d and with video options. You should learn how to read basic notation and learn how to play with tracks, eventually—this is the ultimate fulfillment. I offer all of this because I REALLY want students to learn how it feels to play drums in a genuine way, not just pretend. Even if it is at the most basic level… let’s make it happen!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I charge monthly--you sign up for four lessons at a time (not including a trial lesson).

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

All new customers get a FREE 30-min. trial lesson, whether they're a beginner or an existing drum student.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I attended a Berklee (College of Music in Boston) summer program while in High School (where I met a couple now-famous drummers), and I attended Philadelphia University of Arts after graduating H.S. After my junior year I transferred to the prestigious Manhattan School of Music, where I studied with John Riley and attended classes with students like Chris Potter, Ryan Kiser and Stephon Harris. I left after a year because I was starting to work a lot.
