I'll start by saying I have very high expectations. Also, I asked Ian his recommendations as per colors, finish, etc. I am very glad I did. I found Ian's initial consultation very beneficial. We gave him ideas of what we liked and he sketched several variations out and sent them back to us in a very timely manner. We did ask for multiple versions and he provided them quickly. Ian came to our home everyday, and not only did he work meticulously and leave the area near every night, he also was kind to our pups when we weren't there. He is very trustworthy. In the end, our wall mural was perfect! We do feel like we are in a garden meadow when we are in our kitchen, which is exactly what we were going for. I then hired Ian to faux paint a massive China cabinet from dark wood to match a restoration hardware natural distressed dining table. He nailed it! The knots/wood grain and natural aging is exactly like our dining table. A home run. Next, I am hiring him to finish our cigar room and crown moulding, then for work in my office. Yes he is that good! Thanks Ian!Apr 11, 2018Verified
Ian was a pleasure to work with. He painted giant letters and a set of corn hole boards for an event I was planning. They were done perfectly and just like the proof that he created. If I even need anything else painted in the area I will be sure to contact Ian!Mar 15, 2016Verified
Ian was very professional and an amazing artist. He catpured my vision perfectly. He finished in the time he said and made an effort to reach out to me if he had a question. I will defintely use him in the future and I have already recommended him to my interior painter. I am extremely pleased!!Dec 18, 2014Verified
If you need a wall mural done, you'd be crazy not to hire Ian! As a Christmas present to my girlfriend, I wanted to have a wall mural done on one of the apartment walls. This was a tough turnaround since it was already so close to Christmas, it had to be done in one day, and I also didn't want it to break the bank. Enter Ian. Ian was the fairest in price and said he'd be able to do it in one day. Ian exceeded all of my expectations. I thought he'd come with a ton of stuff and would have to make multiple trips to his car; he came with a very small bundle of stuff that looked like he was going for a weekend trip to Boston. I had coffee ready for him; he had his own coffee in a thermos. My thought on this endeavor was that he was the artist and he could do what he wants as long as it was close to the reference picture; he wanted to consult me and make sure I was comfortable and happy with what he was doing. I made sure my cat didn't bother him; when the cat got away, he was sweet to the cat and didn't mind her at all. This guy is so professional, he wouldn't even eat in the apartment; that's nuts. He stops to show me his progress and told me that he was going to step out to eat lunch. I offered him the living room to eat his lunch and offered him a beer. He wouldn't have it; he stepped out, ate his lunch outside, came back and got back to work. Ian is incredible; he's the pinnacle of professionalism, and again--you'd be CRAZY not to hire him if you need a wall mural done. Thanks Ian.Dec 25, 2015Verified
In early 2015, I hired Ian Kelleher to paint a mural on 3 walls and on the barrel vault ceiling in my small Manhattan bathroom. I asked him to use the jungle paintings of the artist Henri Rousseau as inspiration, but I told him I wanted it to be an original Kelleher and not a copy of sections of Rousseau paintings. He totally understood what I was looking for. The first pencil sketch he gave me was 90% of what I was looking for and I gave him a few notes. Each subsequent sketch got closer and closer to what I wanted.. When the reconstruction work on my bathroom took longer than the contractor anticipated, Ian was very flexible with the start date. Now that the mural is finished, I am 200% pleased with what he accomplished. I had imagined what I was looking for, and in every possible way his mural is better than what I was hoping for. In overall effect and in the detail work it is perfection and then some. When I made a few small suggestions during the process, he eagerly and seamlessly fit my ideas into his design. For example, when I asked him to add the eyes of a mostly hidden panther peering through the foliage, he added that feature in just a few minutes of work, and he made it seem as though it were part of the original design. I am delighted that the imagery is both realistic and painterly at the same time. For my mural, his artistic ability to capture realistically the plants and animals in a jungle setting was wonderful. I cannot imagine either the process or the end result being any better than what I experienced. He definitely took good care of the workspace, during the 5 days of painting and the 1 day of applying 2 coats of varnish, as well as during the final clean-up. I recommend Ian to the greatest extent possible. I feel I have a true work of art on my walls, something I can be proud of forever.Mar 10, 2015Verified
