We did not use the service due to something out of Laura’s control. However in my meetings with her she was great to work with. She laid everything out for me in terms of timing, cost , and what to expect during the course of my potential project. The details are fantastic .Jan 31, 2018Verified
This was our first experience to hire a decorator. I choose to go through Thumbtack as my sister in California had just used the service to hire an interior decorator and was so pleased with the results. Laura at Aaray was initially quick to respond to my inquiry via Thumbtack, to answer questions and provide details on fees. It went downhill from there. Laura was late to each appointment and on one occasion, showed up to an appointment that she previously had asked if I could reschedule. The meeting to present the concepts and furniture suggestions was a true disappointment. Having never worked with a designer before, our expectation was that we would be given options on room layouts, accompanying furniture/accessory suggestions for each and perhaps even options for how the room might be reworked utilizing the items being proposed. NOPE!! We received 1 room design, 1 suggestion of a couch, 1 suggestion of a chair, 1 coffee table/bench, 1 floor lamp, 1 end table. Each of these had merit yet, with only one option presented, there was nothing that we could consider based on objections we had to each piece. She came in at double the budget we had given her, yet, stated more than once, “I came in on budget.” Plus, the furniture selection was completely focused on what she thought my husband wanted and nothing to what I had indicated was my style. There has been no follow up. We even contacted her to confirm pricing on two items. Not once has she asked where we stood on the project, did we need any additional ideas to move forward. NOTHING!! She was paid her fee for 4 hours at our initial meeting and, I guess that is all our project was.Apr 6, 2017VerifiedArray Design Studio's reply
Angela paid me a flat fee to present a design, flooring, furniture and rug selection and layout for her one room that was very small and challenging. Her and her husband did not agree on where it is they wanted to go with the space . I had two appointments with them the initial free consultation and the next one was the presentation after they hired me, that include a cad program layout, all furniture selection for the room, and a detailed estimate according to the budget that Angela had originally quoted me. I think Angela did not understand and her expectations were different, she was used to shopping online and making decisions based on many selections and as a designer I came up with a program to the best of my ability for what it is she and her husband wanted to see. The budget was always adjustable and the furniture selection I presented came with all of my catalogs so that she could go through them sensing that she was going to want to make possible changes which she did not. After the meeting I had made a follow up phone call and a text message with no response so I assumed that Angela went a different direction And she did have pictures of everything I presented to her. I truly believe that Angela just wasn't understanding what my role was as a designer. I do hope that she has found a way to bring her project to fruition. I thank her for allowing me to become more clear about what it is that we do provide for our clients and what they can expect to get out of our presentation and implementation. Communication is our number one tool and paying attention to what it is our clients want to create and helping them to bring it to their desired outcome.

I appreciate Laura’s knowledge and enthusiasm. She gave me the encouragement and perspective that I needed to make decisions about what I can do with my place. The most important quality that she has is the energy of trustworthiness.Dec 24, 2019Verified
I have been very happy working with Laura on my remodel project. She created a very prompt and professional design and presented it to me in detail. It is nice to work with someone that stays on top of their projects, keeps deadlines and is an excellent communicator. Extremely excited to complete my first project with Laura so we can move on to the next one!Sep 1, 2017Verified
