Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: With over 25 years of dog training experience, I am able to offer all levels of training including puppy and adult problem solving, housebreaking and manners as well as aggressive behavior modification. I started out in the competition world. I have titles in Obedience, Agility and Herding. This fueled my desire to learn more about behavior. It tortured my heart to see how competition dogs are treated. This lead me to the positive reinforcement world. I have certifications through Karen Pryor Academy and Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers. Both organizations require a code of ethics and testing of your knowledge and training skills. I stay current on the latest science based training techniques and research by attaining 100's of hours of continuing education. I pride myself on using the most current, scientific methods of training in resolving issues. This truly builds trust on both ends of the leash. My joy comes from watching your bond grow with your pup as we work toward your goal. I only do in home training. I do puppy training, manners and behavior modification for adult dogs. I wish I could help everyone . It hurts my heart when I have to decline a job. If I have declined your request, you can look me up on social media. I do not have a facility. I do not do board and train. I do not do therapy or service dog training.

Dog Training

It’s all about training the trainer - once you have the right technique, it’s amazing how what your dog can do! Susan is an excellent Teajner who breaks it down into easy steps. Fantastic session and worth every penny!

Susan was very knowledgeable and patient. She listened to what our issues are and observed my pup's behavior. She gave me some very good techniques and suggestions for resolving our issues.

Dog Training

Although our schedules didn’t match up for one-on-one time, Susan graciously addressed my many concerns and suggested trainers who are near to me and who might be able to help me with our puppy. She was incredibly kind, patient, and thorough. I would suggest her to anyone & I’d do so without reservation.

Dog Training

I wish I could sect all the highlights! Susan is wonderful and has been so helpful. We are working through some behavior issues between our two dogs and she is informative and encouraging. She knows how to break things down to build the new skills we are teaching our dogs, and is good at training us at how to train our dogs. It's easy to feel bad and embarrassed when you're having behavior issues, because it can be a reflection of the training and care you give to your dogs. She is empathetic and has only given us reassurance and hope as we work with our furbabies. 10/10 I would recommend A Click In Time for anybody who is is looking for quality help from a certified trainer!!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I have a convenient hourly rate which prevents an enormous up-front investment. I also offer packages. I encourage clients to email or text updates and videos following our sessions. This allows me to keep track of progress, make adjustments to the training plan and determine if a followup appointment is necessary; all at no additional charge.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I first take a history of the issues you are having. I listen carefully to the description of your problems and what methods or techniques you have tried in the past. I also observe the body language of your pet and how he interacts with the various members of your family. And above all, I want everyone to have FUN! Training is so important but it shouldn't be a chore. I will introduce you to marker training and explain why marker training is the most ideal and scientifically sound. I do provide the clickers needed to get started. I will assist in training your dog but my goal is to help train you so we see lasting successful changes that you can maintain alone.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am certified through two organizations. I have been certified with the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers since 2011. I'm listed here: ccpdt.org/dog-owners/how-to-choose-a-dog-trainer/ I achieved my certification with Karen Pryor Academy in 2017. KPA is a comprehensive training program that includes a series of tests combined with a series of workshops. Find me here, too: karenpryoracademy.com/ctp/choose-kpa-ctp/ Both organizations require continuing education to ensure I maintain my skills as an trainer. They also require a signed code of ethics stating I will use "training and behavior modification methods based on accurate scientific research, emphasizing positive relationships between people and dogs and using positive reinforcement-based techniques to the maximum extent possible. I will strive to provide for the safety of clients and animals in training programs and behavior consultations." I've been teaching group classses for over 25 years. I have competed and titled multiple dogs in AKC obedience, agility and herding as well as other organizations. I am a AKC CGC Evaluator. One of my dogs was certified as a therapy dog through Delta Society. I have also worked with a veterinary behaviorist.
