FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to sit and talk with my new customer and get to know who they are and what their emotional feeling is towards the event.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in the event field for six years. I started from setting up and working events from birthday parties to weddings to corporate galas and worked my way up to planning events. I was the sole event and sales coordinator at a banquet hall right before stepping out on my own.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got started in the event business by working at waffle house and one of my regular customers used to tell me all the time about how I was too nice to be there. I should get a job where I would be more connected with my customer. Here I thought the job I had was pretty close to my customers, most people get exited when they see the server coming with their food. It's like instant best friends! Then I was offered a job for becoming a server for Taste of Excellence catering company. The very first event I served was a 400 person wedding reception. I loved it! Watching the bride walk in and see the venue was the best feeling I ever had working. Seeing the reaction on the guest faces just lit a fire in me. It was amazing to me how they loved the project I had my hand in. Every since then I have been hooked! I had to get to being the person dealing one on one with the person who was have the event so I worked my way up the dealing with the client myself.
