I had a drywall install and repair job that was on a tight timeline. Danny responded quickly and worked diligently to meet my needs. His work ethic was great and he takes pride in a job well done. He is also personable and has a good sense of humor. His assistant was just as courteous and efficient as he was. Danny also connected me to a great painter who worked to meet my tight deadline. I will definitely hire Danny for the next job I need done.

We hired Larry to fix a masonry job on our fireplace which we weren't happy with. Not only did Larry come out on a Sunday to begin the work, he finished the project one day early. He was meticulous in his work, using great care to make sure the job was done well and we were satisfied with it. He even followed up the next day to make sure we were still happy with it. The fireplace now looks beautiful and we have Larry to thank. We would absolutely contact Larry again for future work and would not hesitate to recommend him to family and friends.

I am a single female on a tight budget who knows very little about home repairs/remodeling. I am wary of being "taken" due to this, and thus have put off my kitchen "redo" for several years. Paul and his assistant, his granddaughter, have been outstanding. They have been punctual, communicative, offered suggestions, and come in under budget. They have also been quite patient when I have added a couple of things or changed course mid-way (glad they aren't reviewing me as a customer :). To top if off, they are positive and enjoyable to be around. My refaced cabinets look great and my backsplash and new range hood go in next week. I can't wait to see the final results!

I requested Drywall estimate for a ceiling removal in the kitchen (old drop ceiling with the plastic sheets for Florescent lighting ) . Kelsha responded quickly and personnaly showed up to introduce himself. I quickly realized Kelsha was more than just drywall contractor. His work and helper were there when they said and performed perfect in removal of many parts of the home I was remodeling. We did total bathroom remodel as well as walls removed throughout the home. They cleaned up everyday they were on the job and never had to question anything. Kelsha was so talented in Finished Trim, Drywall, and general construction all the stress of the multiple projects in the home Kelsha performed always in a professional way. Always was the early man on the job and kept in touch thruout with other trades to cordinate the work load . Kelsha would constantly call to inform me of progress and what I needed to purchase to keep the flow moving forward. I forgot to mention his ability in framing walls whenever needed which I found myself needing during the remodel. We added and removed multiple walls and Kelsha finish work made them all look as if they never happened. I strongly recommend Kelsha Speedlimit Construction for all your drywall , framing and finish Carpentry jobs. Small or large you will be happy with Kelsha on the job.

Mid Ohio did several jobs for me. The first project was a shadowbox fence which turned out wonderful the dogs love being able to run around. Our second project was a 30 x 40 pole barn including insulation, electrical, concrete floor, and a driveway. Do to the amazing job Trent and his guys done we went ahead with a couple of smaller projects inside the house. The flooring in the living room, dining room, foyer, back hall, pantry, kitchen, half-bath, and laundry room were changed out to engineered flooring that my dogs have yet to scratch. After the floors both bathrooms were done including tiling the walls, flooring, putting in a shower, lowering a tub that the previous owner had built up so high that I needed a step stool to get into it, both vanities, light fixtures, toilets, mirrors, painting, and both exhaust fans. All the flooring looks absolutely amazing and what we wanted. Last but not least one of the most important things when remodeling is that they cleaned up the mess and I didn't have to clean anything when they left. These guys are great and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a quality job.

I had Craig finish about half our basement. The job included framing, electrical, HVAC, drywall, paint and finish work (all but plumbing). He was quick to respond with an estimate, started working on plans and permits immediately and kept at the job the entire time. I was informed of progress and next steps throughout the process. He remained flexible and provided good suggestions. Price was competitive with other contractors and quality was top notch. I would definitely hire him for another job and recommend him to others.

We had a flood in our basement and had to replace the entire living area. We had Mark install new drywall ceiling and walls, update the electric, new entrance to bathroom and total refinish of that room, new carpet installed and vintage fireplace mantel installed over existing fireplace. Very happy with results and completed in about 3 and half weeks. It is total makeover, and we will be able to enjoy it for many years to come.

I hired Walkers Quality Drywall to finish a 1200 square foot basement in Dublin, OH. The price was very reasonable and the work was top notch. Shane and his crew worked hard and fast from start to finish to meet our deadline. Hanging, finishing sanding and stomping the ceiling only took them about 8 days. I would highly recommend this company for all your drywall needs. They are true professional.

Alan has truly come through and helped me out while in a bind. I am an out of state landlord and needed some major drywall repair on a unit. Alan gave me the best price and started the job within a couple days. His work ethic, quality, and professionalism are outstanding. It's hard to find an honest contractor but I swear I just hit the jackpot. Alan is an all around good dude and already feels like a friend. I consider myself lucky that he is working on this project for me. Thanks Alan!!!

Richard arrived on time and removed our old shutters and hung the new shutters. They look great ! He also hauled away the old shutters and some misc wood we had for no extra charge. He cleaned our gutters and removed the old gutter guard. Richard also sanded and painted our front door. He was very polite , cleaned up all the work debris and did everything for a very fair price. I would defined hire him again.

I met Darrell on a job site we were both subcontracting. He impressed me with his knowledge and his good work! After working with him and seeing his abilities in drywall, framing, interior/exterior painting, cabinet installation and flooring, I know this guy learned from someone who took the time to show him the right way to build things. Stand-up guy, respectful, take charge-attitude, hard-worker.

We were one of the April flood victims in Louisville. The cleanup involved cutting out drywall and insulation in our finished basement. Shane responded immediately to my request and stopped by to bid on the job within 24 hours. He was very professional and personable and gave me a very reasonable bid for the job. .Shane and Chris were here early this morning to start the job, just one day after I accepted his bid. They were very efficient and considerate. I am very thankful to have found Shane on this website. I would highly recommend him and his crew for your drywall needs.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much will it cost to fix a hole in the wall?

If you have a hole in your wall, don’t despair; drywall repair professionals can patch the hole and repaint the surface and no one will be the wiser. The cost to repair a drywall hole depends on the size of the surface area of the damage, the materials and labor required, and (for a minor repair) any minimum service fee the repair company may charge. The actual labor and drywall prices may be lower than the minimum service fee, but pros must ensure their business overhead costs are met when they go out on minor jobs. To help keep costs low once the pros get there, make sure you have the right paint on hand if you want them to do to a touch up after the repair is complete, so you don’t keep them wait (and charging you for their time) while you search in the garage. Here are two examples of average prices for smaller drywall repair jobs:

  • Approximate cost to repair a 5-foot crack in a wall: $125 (labor $75 and materials $50).
  • Approximate cost to repair a 3-foot ceiling crack: $150.

What is the difference between sheetrock and drywall?

People sometimes use the terms “sheetrock” and “drywall” interchangeably, but they are not exactly the same. Drywall is the industry term for prefabricated sheets of wall, while Sheetrock is the brand name of a type of drywall. Depending on what room is being built, your drywall installation pro will select different thicknesses or grades of drywall. Standard residential drywall is ½-inch thick. Garage walls adjacent to a living space are typically ⅝-inch thick and serve as a firewall. For a garage ceiling, most contractors will use firewall-grade drywall materials to keep your home as safe as possible.

Different types of drywall can be color-coded to indicate their purpose. Purple or green drywall boards are often mold-resistant (MR) and are applied where moisture tends to accumulate, such as in bathrooms and basements or behind tile backsplashes at sinks. These mold-resistant sheets have a fiberglass instead of a paper facing finish to prevent water absorption. Regular drywall is gray or white. The drywall industry is constantly adapting with technology to provide safer and more targeted materials. You can even install soundproofing drywall to help prevent noise transfer through rooms.

How much does it cost to put up drywall?

The national average cost to hire a drywall installation professional ranges $375-$1,500, depending on the job at hand and where you are in the country. Your drywall installation cost will often be lower if the professional is installing the drywall in a new construction with open access as opposed to a remodel. The square footage of the job, the amount of materials, and the labor required also determine drywall prices. According to drywall pros, materials costs can range from 15 percent to 50 percent of your total project cost, depending on the work you’re having done. Request several quotes from drywall installation companies to find the right fit for your construction project. The quotes may be based on the company’s standard cost per square foot or a calculation of the time estimated to complete the job plus the size of the job plus materials and any travel fees. For example, drywall installation for one or two standard-size rooms could cost $900-$1,500. The cost to hang and tape an outbuilding with approximately 40 drywall sheets at 75 cents per square foot could total $1,450, including 3.75 days of labor for the drywall crew.

How much does it cost to repair drywall?

The national average price range to repair drywall is $210-$300. Drywall prices can vary greatly depending on the size of the hole or crack that needs repair, the amount of materials required, and other factors. Cracks can appear at the seams in your drywall due to uncontrollable factors like your house settling or even minor earthquakes. Drywall, although sturdy, will break with enough impact, so if a dresser falls and crashes into a wall or your have a mishap hammering in nails for artwork, you could need drywall repair. Drywall repair professionals may have a minimum service fee of $100-$150 regardless of the size of the job. This ensures that their business expenses are met anytime they send their crew out to a job. Here are some additional examples of average drywall repair prices:

  • Sand and texture five wall patches: $200 (45 minutes of labor and $40 of materials).
  • Repair a 4x8 section of wall: $225 (labor $150 and materials $75).
  • Replace drywall in an entire bedroom: $1,500 (price varies depending on the number of windows, whether there’s metal trim, etc.).
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
