FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began chasing fire trucks and ambulances to emergency scenes when I was 16 years-old with my camera in 1984 to shoot the emergency. I would then sell the images to the local paper. By my senior year in high school, I was under contract with The Philadelphia Inquirer to shoot high school sports.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The best advice I can offer is that it is not the equipment that makes the photojournalist, but rather the ability to 'see' and have a vision for the images to capture. Whereas you would not walk into a kitchen and compliment a chef for having a great stove, you should always remember it is not the equipment where the talent lies with a photojournalist.
