FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Continuing education is a must in the field of photography. We are in the digital age, and we demand things to be better, faster, stronger, smaller, etc. From camera equipment, to social media, to marketing, to software, to lab products, there seems to be an endless array of new things to learn and discover.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure you are on the same page as your photographer style wise. My specialty is relaxed and natural sessions without props or posing. There is nothing wrong with this, but you deserve someone who is really good at what they do and we all can't be really good at everything, so it just makes sense to know what you are looking for. Wedding photography is very differerent from family and child photography. They require different strengths, equipment, and experience. Also make sure your expectations as far as pricing, product, time limitations, and all the little details are in line. It should be a fairly simple exchange and you should have all of this information up front.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Many photographers wish that customers really knew the amount of work that we put into a session before and after it takes place. The fun part for us is the actual shooting where we get to be creative and social, but there is a huge behind the scenes portion as well. Many hours of preperation, education, marketing, and correspondence is required in order to run any business. The photography market right now is saturated with new photographers, but it takes a lot of dedication and time to build a strong client base that keeps coming back. I am always appreciative of my returning clients and excited to meet new ones too.
