FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Oh yes. This is very important. I attend all and any educational seminars. I also have my staff attend them. We will attend a trade show that will feature some of the newest window treatmant on the market next week. This market changes and evolves constantly. Knowledge of new product is crucial in our industry. How it works, price point, functionality...
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
As I said earlier, I've wanted to be an Interior Designer since I was 12. I used to design rooms in my head. I would pick color and furniture for model homes that I would see when my parents were looking for a new home. Of course things have changed much over the past few decades. For the better! People have a more global outlook so they are open to lots of ideas and styles. Years ago, people followed the trend instead of what they loved. That's what a good designer will do- help you understand what you love. NOT what they like. However they do bring their expertise so listen up.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Space planning seems to biggest hurdling block for most people. Color Consultation is also popular. Color is a science and it takes a certain amount of thought and some experimentation. I do alot of staging of course, but that's because it sells homes. I have my own inventory of furniture and accessories that I have handpicked. So it is all very beautiful and I don't have to rent it. I'm not sure if you can rent accessories. I definitley assist in the sale of homes.
