While we didn’t push through with the project because of personal financial reasons, I just had to leave a stellar review for James who not only had A+ communication (got a call within an hour of reaching out to him), but who also truly tried his best to find the most cost effective solution for our situation. So many businesses out there try to get the most $ from their clients and this is not one of them. This is an honest business that shows true compassion and understanding of their customer’s needs and situation. Highly recommend, and I hope we actually get to do the project with James in the coming year once we have the funds.

The project initially began very positively with quick responses and good communication from James, the owner of Post Up Fence and Construction. Unfortunately, as the fence installation progressed, we encountered several issues that have not been fully resolved.
There were delays due to incorrect items being ordered and shipments that were not properly verified upon arrival. I ordered the materials seperately with his final approval on the supply list. Additionally, alterations had to be made to posts to cover holes, which was unexpected. I provided detailed descriptions and pictures to clarify my expectations amd the look that I was asking for, especially since approximately 30% of the fence was installed on a slope ( which I was aware of). This was due to the natural grade of the yard.
The fence at the rear was installed significantly higher off the ground than anticipated, leaving a 1-2 foot gap. As a result, I incurred additional expenses to purchase dirt to fill this space.James did fill the areas in with the dirt I purchased. However, I would have preferred the fence to be installed lower rather than bearing the extra cost.
On the left side of the yard, the fence panels were initially installed at inconsistent heights, creating an uneven, jagged appearance. After expressing dissatisfaction, I had to incur further out-of-pocket costs to adjust and level the fence. Unfortunately, this "fix" weakened the fence structure, causing about three panels to shift significantly over the winter. Currently, these panels are tilted, unstable, and appear as though they might fall over (see pictures).
Additionally, both gates have shifted. One gate requires consistent lifting to close properly, and the other is completely stuck and cannot be opened. The hardware attached to the gates was also installed improperly, causing additional holes in the fence. James did provide an extra piece to cover these holes; however, proper measurements and initial installation of the trim could have prevented this issue entirely.
I've reached out to James three times regarding these issues, and we had two scheduled follow-up appointments that were missed without prior notice or communication. My most recent attempt to contact James for resolution has not received a response.
Overall, while the project began with promise, it ultimately resulted in unexpected expenses and structural issues that remain unresolved. Given the circumstances and the frequency of redoing certain tasks that were not completed correctly the first time—resulting in increased expenses and instability on the left side of the fence—I fear that my fence panels will detach, break, and fall over, and the gates are currently not operable due to significant shifting. I rate my experience 3 out of 5. I would greatly appreciate any assistance from the referral site in facilitating a resolution to these ongoing issues.
