LPM Equities poured a new concrete patio, built steps down to the patio and added a concrete slab onto our driveway for trash bins. Les had great communication and was affordable. I absolutely love our new look and can't thank them enough. I highly recommend LPM Equities. They do quality work, are always here on time when they say they will be, worked quickly and efficiently and I feel that they went above and beyond to put our yard back together after the project was complete. We look forward to working with you in the future when needed.

I recently had a new driveway, sidewalk and 10' x 20' pad behind my garage installed by Safe Guard Renovations. Dave Rogers, the owner of the company is a young ambitious professional. I was skeptical at first because he had only been in business for five years but there is no doubt that he had been exposed to this trade for many years prior. Dave employ's true tradesman, his main concern was to make me happy as the customer. The tear out, install and finish was done in three days. I couldn't be happier. I had some concerns and questions after the job was done and paid for, so I texted Dave and within five minutes he called me back. All is good. I would like to make mention of some of his guys as I said he has some extremely skilled tradesmen working for him. Mike, who was the senior of them all would spend time with me while I was micromanaging the project (getting in their way) and reassure me that the guys that were on the job know exactly what they're doing. Shane, is there master plumber who will repair, relocate and tie in all your drains and who also has an extensive back ground in the cement trades. Som, this man is a bull and will take charge of the cement pour and finishing, complete professional. There are many others but just can’t remember their names. Bottom line, I would recommend Safe Guard Renovations for your cement needs.

We used Evans Landscaping this summer and fall for grass cutting and leaf pickup and were happy with the services. They also replaced our front steps and put in a concrete sidewalk.

Bill can do anything and everything properly, from basic drywall patch and paint to complete roof install or replace electricalbreakers and panel. He has helped me over 10 years with my rental properties...no project too big or too small...installed french doors (with framing), windows, concrete patio, fencing, major plumbing...you name it. He is honest. If he makes a mistake, he takes responsibility for it, and his pricing is more than fair.

I was remodeling my bathroom off the master bedroom, and it was a major overhaul, (moved walls, all new drywall, and then the floor). I was fine with most of the work that had to be done in the room, with the exception of the floor, (the house is a slab, and part of the floor settled almost a half inch along the outside wall). I knew Rick did flooring, so I approached Rick with the problem. He told me the easy way out was to pour a self leveling concrete. Since I've never done this before, (and I was uncomfortable trying to attempt it), I used Rick's services. Well, the floor came out great, you could tell he knew what he was doing. Also what was great, is he worked around my schedule! Would I have him do more work for me in the future, DEFINITELY! Very experienced, very professional!

Lon is a very hard working, talented and trustworthy person. He worked on 3 bathrooms in my home. Lon ripped out all of my flooring, fixed the subflooring, installed tile floors, replaced toilets, replaced vanities, installed a beautiful french sink and did a fantastic job on my retiling my shower. Lon is an excellent communicator and kept me in the loop every step of the way. I would highly recommend Lon for any home improvement job. Aside from being highly skilled he also offers great ideas for the undecided homeowner(me). Most importantly, Lon is honest and trustworthy. I trust Lon implicitly with my house key, my dogs and even my kids. He was even kind enough to let my barky little pomeranians out for me. Lon is the Best person for your home improvement or repair project. Do yourself a favor and call Lon first. You will be thrilled with the results.

I had Steve take out my old concrete driveway and sidewalk and pour me a new one. I had other estimates that were thousands of dollars more than Steve's price. I am very happy with my new driveway and I have been recommending Steve to all my friends and relatives. He does a professional job but at a price that is affordable. Steve takes pride in his work. I will be calling him first when I need anything done.

Debo and his crew did a great job. Debo kept me in the loop through the whole job and after installing my new driveway they did a great job cleaning up and putting everything back the way it was, including putting my welcome mat back out and watering my potted plant. Very happy with their work.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good concrete contractor?

Concrete contractors pave driveways, build foundations for homes, install retaining walls, create hardscaping for front and back yards, build concrete steps, and so much more. When searching for a driveway contractor, read reviews from previous customers and ask for referrals. Ask the contractor for photos of examples of their work that’s similar to what you want. Confirm they will get the proper permits so your driveway is up to code. Hiring a driveway contractor to install concrete can average $5-$6 per square foot, or more, depending on where you live, the slope and grade of the driveway site, and regional labor costs. For a new asphalt driveway, the cost could average from $3-5 per square foot. A standard concrete driveway of 500 square feet averaging $5-$6 per square foot would cost $2,500-$3,000 — so it pays to research someone who will do quality work. Excavation and grading work can increase your cost per square foot significantly. Ask whether the contractor provides a materials and labor warranty for their work. Some cracking of the concrete may occur as it settles, but you should talk with your contractor about any structural or aesthetic concerns you have. When hiring a concrete contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time. When hiring a paving contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Replacing or renovating a damaged or time-worn asphalt or concrete driveway can boost your curb appeal and add to your home value. If your concrete driveway is nearing 20 years or more, it may be wise to invest in an entirely new driveway, instead of redoing your current one. Asphalt driveways average 15-20 years of life, so if you start needing major repairs around the 15 year mark, weigh the pros and cons of repairing or replacing it. Request bids from two to three driveway contractors to determine pricing and project scope, and check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
  • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
  • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
  • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
  • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
  • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.
