Introduction: A great deal of DJ's are young guys who aspire to be club DJ's and all they know how to play is Top 40 and Club music. I am middle aged, mature, responsible, and have a vast knowledge of different music and how different music affects different people. Just by looking and watching my audience I can usually get an average party turned up into a dancing blast for most events. I have a strong technical knowledge and can adapt to different situations, venues, requirements, and issues. I have experience announcing for stadium sporting events, MCing charity events and have a voice that broadcasts well over a PA . I get a real kick out of seeing people "Get Up" for the music that I play. When my audience comes up to me at the end of the event and tells me that they loved my selections or just give me a Thumbs Up from across the room.

Jim has DJ'd several local parties and events that I have attended and has a keen sense of what type of music moves the crowd. He is very aware of the audience demographics and adjusts his play list to insure the crowd is entertained. Jim has a broad range of sound equipment and lights to adapt to any size venue. I always enjoy hearing the great music, as selected by Jim, at tailgates and local parties. He always comes up with a song that you haven't heard for awhile that brings back great memories!

We could not have been more pleased with the job Jim Sharick did for my sister in laws 50th birthday. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I consider travel time. Most events are Franklin county or similar of the north side of Columbus. I then basically figure a minimum charge for set up/teardown of requested equipment and then add an hourly rate for how long the event lasts.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I subscribe to an industry periodical. Read manufacturer's and industry experts articles online.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I run a business doing remodeling and home inspection. I have a strong technical knowledge of structures, mechanical systems and electricity. Mobile Beat Magazine had an article once that said "the best of DJ's are the Jacks of All Trades". Since I have been doing this for 30 years anyway I started a business doing it professionally.
