- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I consider travel time. Most events are Franklin county or similar of the north side of Columbus. I then basically figure a minimum charge for set up/teardown of requested equipment and then add an hourly rate for how long the event lasts.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I subscribe to an industry periodical. Read manufacturer's and industry experts articles online.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I run a business doing remodeling and home inspection. I have a strong technical knowledge of structures, mechanical systems and electricity. Mobile Beat Magazine had an article once that said "the best of DJ's are the Jacks of All Trades". Since I have been doing this for 30 years anyway I started a business doing it professionally.
