- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a member of Clickin Moms, have several photography books, and subscribe to 2 major photography magazines. I read up on techniques and new ideas on an almost daily basis. I also worked as a camera specialist throughout college, and will be attending a 3 day national photography conference this fall to take several classes from some of the best in the business.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been interested in photography since I was 8 years old. I had learned how to use a film camera and develop my own images in a darkroom by the time I was 12. I worked as a camera specialist throughout college and purchased my first DSLR at that time. I married soon after graduating and had my first daughter a couple of years later. Like many new mothers, I wanted to capture every precious moment of my child growing up. Soon, people started asking me to photograph their children as well and I realized that I could make a business out of my passion and hobby.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
About a month ago, I shot my first engagement session for an outdoor loving couple. We all had so much fun and I got some of my favorite images yet. Apparently, they loved the result as well because they hired me to shoot their wedding up in South Dakota this fall!
