NL Moving did a fantastic job for us. They were on time, quick but careful, and very friendly. They did a much better job than the last national moving company we used for our previous move and were a fraction of the price. We will definitely use NL Moving again.

We were very happy with this service. Both guys worked really hard and were able to pack the truck, deliver, unload, and reassemble beds and various other items in record time. They obviously knew what they were doing and we were very impressed with them. They didn't try to stretch out the time and finished well under the estimate. We will hopefully not be moving again any time soon but if we ever do, we will be using this company again.

Used Serenity Moving to move my daughter. They arrived on time, called when they were on their way, very friendly and professional and finished in less time than estimated. Very reasonably priced. Great experience I highly recommend.

The crew was very helpful, flexible, professional, and friendly. We were provided a flat rate and Mike stuck to that rate. When we weren't ready to move on the day we originally scheduled, Mike graciously allowed us to change dates. Although moving is my least favorite thing to do, Mike and the guys made the move enjoyable. I look forward to referring all of my friends to Mike Moves LLC and I look forwarding to hiring them to help us move again. Thanks for the great experience.

The two movers were very hard workers! They moved my 3 bedroom house in 3 1/2 hours for a fair price. The only problem I had was they were over 3 hours late of the scheduled moving time. I believe this was of the person scheduling the move and rain delay.

I am so glad I hired the 2 Move Crew. I had rented a truck and was moving my Mother in Law out of state. It was a weekday so most of my friends were working and I needed help. 2 Move Crew to the rescue. They arrived on time. We're very personable and professional. I am glad it was 2 Move and not my friends because Dimitri really knows how to pack a truck tight to get the most space out of it while protecting the contents. Cedrick was moving things out of the home fast too. They made a great team. Also their price was fair with no travel charges and all of the other additional charges other companies charge. If I need any moving help in the future these are the guys I will call. Extremely happy with their service. Great to deal with.

They did an excellent job. They were efficient, yet thorough. They took special care of an antique china hutch, making sure it was protected properly as it’s been in my family for many years. I had used another moving company 3 1/2 years ago and they did not take this much care with my things. Great job to the moving team. They were so positive throughout the whole thing.

They were the best! We hired them just to move our washer & dryer from our house to a storage unit. They had to lift them both over the bathroom sink and vanity to get them out, but they made it look easy! They were on time, and even text me to let me know they were 10 mins out. They communicated well and were both professional and friendly. We regret moving the rest of our stuff by ourselves when we could have hired these guys! We got about 10 quotes for moving out washer and dryer and they were not only the cheapest, but the best rated too! We will 100% be hiring them for our next move and would recommend them to anyone!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
