You can find the following by direct observation, talking with friends and neighbors, and a quick review the company`s website or advertising. If you do not know an answer, ask when you call. Does the contractor have good marketing technique? Does the company employ background checked technicians? Do they have a company website? Do they have references? Do they provide you access to pictures, showrooms, or detailed descriptions of what they`ve done? Will the company guarantee a price before work begins? Will they provide you a professional estimate chart and contract prior to starting the job? If required, is the contractors, licesnsed ? (Painters are not require to be liscensed in Oklahoma, but most other contractors are) Is the company registered with the government, (duns number, tax id number) So that you no that they are a legit company and not just someone looking for a quick buck. Do they have other forms of marketing, besides craigslist? business cards, websites, banners, yard signs etc. Do they give free quotes and in a timeley manner? Are they friendly and respectful enough to make you feel comfortable about building a professional relationship with them?
