Jason and the guys were very capable, eager to please, and did a great job removing one tree, and pruning out dead and dangerous limbs from our many other big trees. They were also respectful of the neighbors and kept to the quoted amount. We'd use them again anytime.

The owner is great to work with, very responsive, handles any issues that arise and is just over all a nice guy. The end result of our yard overhaul was beautiful. I did have a few concerns with the quality of work after the fact. The weed barrier used seems to be very low quality. Weeks after the job, there was grass and weeds growing in my bark chips and there wasn't even weed barrier used around my tree. To be fair to Errin, I did not contact him about these issues, so my disappointment may have been rectified. Overall, I would recommend them with the request that they use quality weed control measures! 😊

John was fantastic from beginning to end. I asked him to revise the bid multiple times and he was quick to do so. He showed up on time the day of the tree trimming. He walked through each tree and detailed what he would specifically do and made sure he was aware of any special requests. Him and his son worked hard all day to trim a total of 8 trees and removed 3 dead ones. The trees look great, and the cleanup was wonderful. I will definitely be calling John back for the next round of tree maintenance.

I originally wanted the top of the tree cut off. We were told that that would harm the tree. The two guys that Mike sent out did a great job. We appreciated the fact that they all seemed more concern about the health of the tree and what was best for the tree. Rochelle and Mike were both easy to work with and were professional in how they did there job. GOOD JOB!

I hired Anderson Landscape Maintenance to do some tree work for me at my home. They completely cut down a tall pine tree & topped a tall Christmas tree. I have nothing but good things to say about the company & the work. The people were very nice to work with, scheduled my appointment very promptly, arrived on time & did a fantastic job. I was very impressed with the clean-up and the work done. I didn't come home to a big mess that I had to clean up myself. The gentlemen that did the work were very fast & efficient. They did a wonderful job & the price was very reasonable for what they did. I would highly recommend them to others & will book any future work with Anderson. Sherry Brown

Noble Tree & Land Care pruned an overlooked plum tree for me and were professional and very knowledgeable. I didn't know anything about how to care for the tree and they took the extra time to fill me in for future care in a way that was understandable. They did a great job and I would definitely hire them back again and recommend their company to friends, plus my dog loved them!

Roberto and his partner did a great job of removing a tree in my backyard. They were able to remove the stump to several inches below the ground so that a stump grinder was not necessary. He checked with me throughout the job process to make sure they were doing exactly what I wanted done. Roberto left the site so tidy that you couldn’t even tell a tree had been there. I would definitely use his service again.

I reached out on here for a landscapers ho could do landscape clearing and preparation for a home that we were putting on the market to lease out. As a property management company we understand first impressions determine quite a lot. I received 2 landscapers who reached out and ultimately chose 7days Lawn Care Maintenance. We could go on and on about how great Enrique was in communicating with us, showing up for schedule appointments, his value, his personality and grasp of the vision we had for the property and much more. We have found a long term partner in landscaping. A company we can trust and go to when we need our owners homes to get an extra touch of spruce up. Thanks Enrique for your stewardship, integrity and how hard you worked. Picture tell a thousand words.

Had Carlos and Antonio remove two stumps for us and all I can say is these guys know their business! Quick, efficient, on time and very reasonably priced.....what more can you ask of any contractor? They removed both stumps within an hour and, when finished, cleaned up the area. Made it appear as if they were never there. I would certainly recommend them to anyone seeking prompt, professional tree service. Gene F., Manning,OR.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
