Glenn was originally hired for a plumbing job to finish up some remodel work on our kitchen. We are avid DIY'ers and ended up tackling the job ourselves. We also had other appliance installs we didn't get to including some hvac hookup, wiring etc.. Glenn was flexible on the types of projects, happy to help with whatever we needed, easy to work with, resourceful and creative in solving the problems that came up as they always do with remodel work. He also re-did our plumbing job to make it better; quickly. We could not have done all this in the time we did without him. We were able to accomplish everything we needed with his help. He spend more time than we had requested even though he had another job to get to. He is not the cheapest, but well worth his rates and less than had we hired journeyman professionals in each individual area. I would add that he is reasonably priced, and for us at the end he altered his quoted price to less than the original based on the scope of projects we had him do. It made it easier to give him a bit extra which he deserved for the hours he spent! As an added note to his professionalism, he responded to each email through thumbtack immediately, of which I sent several, and he arrived early to our scheduled appointment time. I would definitely call him in the future.

We are very thankful that we found Tim Napper and Cory of 3:16 contracting. We were self contracting and had initially hired 3:16 to do drywall. But, they came to the rescue when we had problems with our framing contractor. After a meeting with the city inspector, we hired 3:16 to fix and complete the framing. Tim and Cory helped turn our dream addition from a nightmare back to a dream. They did a great job and have restored our faith and trust that there are good people in contracting! Now we have and will continue to use 3:16 for our contracting needs. Thank you 3:16 contracting!!! Jenny and Liz

Scott Stratton was wonderful to work with and I would highly recommend him to anyone. Scott did a kitchen remodel for us and it wasn't just the nice work he did but he helped me think things thru about placement, tiles and features. I was so uncertain of what I wanted but he gave me great insight and the kitchen turned out great. With his help, I have better utilized my cabinet space and placing appliances and work space to make the kitchen more efficient. He made suggestions that I would never have thought of, even though I had checked out several kitchen models. Scott also removed and repaired some utility room and deck flooring due to some wood rot. He then hung a new back door and repaired the linoleum entry area. Scott is prompt and does not slack off while at your home. He's there when he says he's going to be and is friendly and easy to work with. Several of my co-workers have used Scott for various jobs and have also been pleased.

Bathroom remodel highlights: cost, trust, quality of work, friendliness and flexibility. He was great! The grout and tile work looks amazing and we have gotten the most compliments on that part of our remodel. The finished product of our whole bathroom was really done well and we ended up very pleased. The floor is perfect, the vanity looks great, and all the floor boards and seals are excellent. He was friendly and flexible working around our kids and crazy schedules. He addressed my concerns right away. He was easy to get ahold of and even easier to talk to about what we wanted in our remodel. I also really appreciated that he made the small decisions on his own without asking us every little question, but also included us if he wasn't sure what we'd like best. It was a really nice balance. The were some areas that could be improved upon from our perspective. We were a bit disappointed when the job was not finished when we were initially expecting, but we understand there were things out of his control. Keeping us in the loop a bit more would have made us feel better about the delays, however, he was apologetic and came to finish as soon as he could. All that said, we really were pleased with the finished product. We chose to work with Thayer Construction because when he came for the estimate, we liked his confidence, friendliness, and because the estimate was one of the lowest. The estimate was very close to the final cost, which was another great area. We were very pleased with what he charged (and didn't charge us for). There is always a concern of being cheated and never really knowing if we are paying a fair price, but we had no such concerns with Thayer Construction. Read less

Remodel of my bathroom in my home and at my business of a Veterinary Hospital. He was always on time, and cleaned up after himself. At my home he did a great job with the tiles on the floor and in the shower and helped us put together a pattern that turned out fantastic. He is great at helping you pick out items such as mirror/vanity and flooring. I would hire him again and have already referred him to friends.

After attempting to work with multiple (disappointing) contractors, I somehow stumbled upon Thumbtack and was matched with Brian for a project. My husband and I were trying to get new flooring put in and remove a closet before we moved into our new home, as well as multiple other projects to be done later, such as refinishing our deck and bringing it up to code, fixing some posts under the house, redoing bathrooms, and some kitchen cabinet work. Brian responded to my project proposal on Thumbtack almost immediately. Literally one or two minutes after it had posted, he sent me a message. We spoke on the phone and he was very professional and polite. He agreed to go take a look at our house right away and send us a bid. When Brian says he will contact you, he does. He often gets written estimates to us the same day we discuss a project. If you aren’t home, he will send you picture updates on his work. He is professional, friendly, and is very reasonably priced. It’s a pleasure to have him working for us and we couldn’t be happier that we hired him. A list of things Brian has done for us: *Removed old carpet, Installed Pergo laminate throughout house *Kitchen cabinet modifications to fit new appliances *Removed closet, put up drywall and finished/painted *Replaced drywall, framing, insulation, siding, trim, etc., in a wall that was wet and ruined from a leak in the roof *Refinished deck, bringing it up to code, adding a gate; replacing stairs in yard *Is currently remodeling our bathroom *Will soon repair the post and beams under the house I would highly recommend Brian for any work you are thinking of having done. It’s a pleasure to have him around and his work is top notch!

I couldn't be happier with the work Mitchell Contracting did for me- new wood floors throughout, drop ceiling, paint, addition of an electric fireplace, new fence, and a total kitchen remodel. Excellent attention to detail, everything turned out even better than I expected- my neighbor said the new kitchen looks like it should be in a design magazine. Best experience I've ever had with a contactor, very professional and easy to deal with- would recommend them to anyone.

Davis of Rogue Remodel did a very difficult basement foundation repair in a tight timeline within a real estate transaction. It was done on time, on budget and with exception quality. As a real estate broker, I was blown away as this doesn't happen often with most contractors. These guys are fantastic and I have used them a number of times since with the same result!

Total kitchen remodel and floor tiled. I had never hired a contractor before and had no idea of what was involved. Anthony led me through the process and calmed my anxieties. He and his crew were very professional, accomplished and courteous. Anthony had a good relationship with his subcontractors and all phases of the job were done in a timely manner. Anthony also made sure everything was done to code and to his high standards. I am extremely satisfied with my finished kitchen and new tile floor.

I called several contractors and had several bids going. Chase Construction by far gave me a very reasonable and fair bid for my house remodel. Beating all the bids I had received. I had Erik Watson performed several jobs ranging from foundation, framing, installation, drywall, tile, painting, roofing,my decking and fixed my fence. Not only was his work beyond my expectations. He's kind and courteous. He's punctual and gets the job done in a timely matter. I don't typically write reviews. But after weeks of endless outrageous bids. I'm just trying to share this little secert gem of a contractor. To those who are looking for a good honest general contractor. I highly recommend Chase Construction

It was a great experience working with Roman @ Alexander Tile. We couldn’t be happier with the end results. He worked tirelessly to complete the job and he met the challenges of remodeling an older home head on and exceeded our expectations. We will definitely hire Roman again for our second bathroom. I highly recommend him without reservation.

I used them to get a new roof, insulation, fence, deck, paint for interior/exterior, as well as a remodel for both of my bathrooms and kitchen! We are in love with our place, and feel like we have a brand new house!!

Alfredo and Antonio are absolute gems. I'm pretty sure they saved my life and our marriage. Unknowingly we bought a house that needed extensive renovation. I'd done quite a few remodels, but this one was about to bury me when they came to my rescue. Their response to every challenge/problem we faced was: "Don't worry, we can do it!" And, they did! They are afraid of no job, do excellent work quickly and efficiently and quite often solved unique problems by thinking outside the box. I was also very impressed and grateful by their willingness to listen to me. When I worked as a contractor, I always went the extra mile for my clients. This is the first time I have ever been treated that way. These men are keepers. If you have a chance, hire them and count yourself fortunate indeed.

How do I plan a bathroom remodeling project?

If you’re stumped on how to plan a bathroom remodeling project, it pays to hire a designer. This is especially important if you’re changing your bathroom layout in any way. Designers create contractor-friendly drawings indicating exactly where each tile and fixture will be installed, down to the light switches. This investment might cost you $300-$500 but save you significant frustration and miscommunication, while ensuring you get precisely what you want.

If you’re going to do your own design, planning a bathroom remodeling project means being organized and planning ahead. Create a general outline of what you want and the budget you have. Identify the specific fixtures, tiles, paint and vanity you prefer. Get all this organized before requesting quotes from two to three reputable general contractors. Once you find the right pro, get a written contract outlining scope of work, materials that will be used, timeframe and payment schedule. Communicate clearly about when to order your materials so they are ready and waiting by the time the contractor gets the permits. Your job from here is to communicate clearly, pay the contractor as the work progresses, and enjoy your remodel when it’s done.

Where should I start when remodeling a bathroom?

Bathroom remodeling doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Before starting a bathroom remodel it’s crucial to know what you want and have a clear understanding of your maximum budget. If you’d love all marble fixtures but have $3,000 total, you will have to compromise. Being realistic about materials and money before you even contact a contractor will have you on the road to success. Here are some simple steps to follow in the planning stages of bathroom remodeling:

    • List your remodeling priorities in order of importance (e.g., 1. New shower head, 2. Replace flooring, 3. Install recessed lighting, etc.).
    • Calculate what you can realistically afford to spend on your bathroom remodel. Identify an “all in” price — meaning the absolute maximum you’re willing to pay, as well as what you’d prefer to spend.
    • Gather ideas from Pinterest about colors and finishes.
    • Research the costs of the materials and finishes you want and begin making choices about what is and isn’t possible to fit into your budget (once labor is included). If you’d like to stay under $10,000 total, but really love a $2,000 tub, plan to downgrade in other areas.
    • Request quotes from at least three reputable general contractors, share your vision and ideal materials, and work together from there.

How long should a bathroom remodel take?

With proper planning and a good general contractor, your bathroom remodeling project doesn’t have to take forever. The construction phase of the project will always vary based on your scope of work, the square footage and the condition of your bathroom under the surface layer. Inevitably an 80-square-foot master bathroom with major changes will take longer than a 25-square-foot guest bath undergoing a minor renovation. For a smaller bathroom, a facelift — the industry term for sprucing up the surface layer (such as paint, vanity, tiles or light fixtures) but keeping the existing footprint of the space — may take five to eight working days, as long as there are no surprises like mold waiting when the old vanity comes out. A more complex bathroom remodel that revamps the shower area (customizing the plumbing, installing tile and changing the shower door), updates the flooring and cabinetry, and adds new paint and new lighting could take anywhere from one week to three weeks. A full bathroom remodel that guts the room, changing the footprint and moving the electrical wiring and plumbing lines, could take four to eight weeks or more. To keep your bathroom remodel on schedule, have your materials ordered and waiting, and don’t make any change orders once construction begins. Planning is key to keeping a bathroom remodel on schedule.

How do I remodel my bathroom?

Bathroom remodeling is made up of three general phases. The first phase is the planning and permitting phase, in which you determine exactly what you want, what materials and finishes will be used, and what the end product will look like. If you’re competent with design you can handle the planning yourself, or you may hire an interior designer to guide you. During this phase you’ll also hire a general contractor who can help execute your remodel vision, coordinating and overseeing all the subcontractors required to do the bathroom remodeling (plumbers, flooring pros, etc.). When your plan is finalized, your contractor should obtain permits for the work you want done. During this time you’ll work together to order all the materials so they’ll be ready and waiting when it’s time to start construction.

The second phase is construction. Bathroom remodeling typically starts with demolition, removing the old floors, shower and vanity to make way for the new. Delays in delivery of materials, or changing your mind and ordering different materials halfway into the project, will mean that construction has to pause until the new materials arrive. Each subcontractor is dependent on the next to do their work, and the general contractor should keep things moving along at the proper timeline, ensuring that the right materials are available and dealing promptly with any unexpected repairs, such as damage discovered behind the walls or under the floor. The general contractor will also coordinate inspections from the necessary officials if you’ve moved load-bearing walls or done electrical or plumbing work. After construction is complete, the final phase of bathroom remodeling is addressing your punch list. These are all the items that need to be corrected before final payment is handed over to the contractor.

How much does it cost to remodel a bathroom?

Nationally, the average cost of bathroom remodeling is $14,000. Bathroom remodels can vary widely, from standard makeovers to luxurious master bathroom revamps. The factors that affect your bathroom remodeling cost are the finishes you choose (marble tiles can cost 20 times as much as standard subway tiles), the square footage of the project, regional labor rates in your area and the scope of work. Changing the layout or size of the bathroom will also raise costs. Moving electrical wiring and plumbing lines will also dramatically increase costs, as you’ll need to hire plumbers and electricians to handle the work. What’s happening behind your walls and under your floor will also affect bathroom remodeling cost: Rot, damage or mold can lead to additional work and charges. Overall, bathroom remodeling may offer great return on investment and also improve your daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom remodeling costs:

    • 6-foot by 6-foot bathroom remodel: $3,500, including labor and materials.
    • Standard renovation: $6,500-$10,000. Price includes labor and materials the customer has purchased. Labor may include taking out the shower and shower pan, installing new shower pan and shower, and installing new door, new vanity, new mirror, new bathroom fan, and all new fixtures.
      • Price variation depends on the quality of the finishes.
    • 10-foot by 6-foot bathroom remodel: $7,200, including labor and materials.
    • Mid-range renovation: $12,000-$15,000. Price includes labor and materials the customer has purchased.
    • Upscale renovation: $35,000 and up. Price includes labor and materials. Items might include digital displays for fixtures, multiple shower heads and custom showers.
