- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes I do! I attend every floral design class from Portland, to the coast and as far south as Eugene. I would say I attend at least 6 design shows a year. I also subscribe to various floral design magazines. I love to go on different florists websites and look at their designs.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I had been an elementary teacher for years, and the system was changing and the students and parents and I was to the point of not looking forward to the next day of school. I had always been "crafty" and always loved to grow flowers. I made the decision to quit school and enroll in Floral Design classes and have never regretted it.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
First I would see how past customers have rated them. I would not go with the least expensive (sometimes you get what you pay for), but with who I felt was really listening to me and the look I wanted. I would also advise you to find someone who is flexible and not ridged in their business.
