FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge per event and not really an hourly rate. Non- weddings start at $300.00 and weddings start at $600.00 although I do try to work with budgets. I discount for every day except Saturday. I have a problem with the new rating system of: $> basic; $$> standard; $$$> premium; $$$$> high-end. I like to think I give the same quality service weather I bid $50.00 or $2,000.00. Back to how I quote for an event. 3 things affect my bid. 1)Type of event(weddings are more labor intense) so I charge more. 2) Venue: I try to work with the customer on pricing and their budget. If they are using a more pricey venue, then they should be able to afford to pay the normal rate for a DJ. If they are paying for a grange and mom & pop are heading up the potluck, then I want to work more with their budget. 3) Length of time; to some extent size: and lighting. How much equipment do I need and the set-up time involved to give you the best sound for your event.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If it is a wedding I try to schedule a pre-wedding-day-consult to go over music, schedule and start a personalized play-list. Other events I try to get requests ahead of time so I can create a personalized play list
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taken dance lessons and know how to dance several dances genres. I have spent time with an acoustical engineer and have learned how to EQ a room to get the best sound possible.
