Introduction: As a lifestyle photographer, I love to photograph families in their own personal or favorite environment. For some that's at home, others it's as broad as the outdoors, and for others it is a very specific location. It is important to me that it be a place and setting that means something to the family, something they do often, or someplace they go. It adds another layer of intimacy and authenticity to the photography that my clients really end up loving. I love getting to know my clients better! It's important to be able to get to know the people I am photographing so their personalities can really come through and shine in the photos. I do an in person meeting with families a few weeks before the shoot, especially to familiarize myself with the children and earn their cooperation and trust just a little bit. It makes the photoshoot day go even more smoothly!

We wanted to take family pictures with our 3-year-old son and our young (and restless) dog, and take some maternity shots as well. Carolyn did a great job balancing all of the individuals present. We did not feel rushed - Carolyn took time to engage our son, dedicated enough time to maternity shots, and handled our crazy excited puppy running into and out of frames with ease. I am excited about the lovely pictures we are getting and grateful for the warm and positive experience Carolyn created for my family.

Carolyn has taken amazing photos for my jewelry line. She is very professional and great at working with people in and out of the lens of her camera. She was very patient with me and made sure I was happy with each photo I chose. I keep going back to her for my photos because she is excellent to work with!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I first began in photography in high school, and loved shooting and developing my own film. That led into college where I continued my studies and earned a Bachelor's of Fine Art in Photography. In my career I have worked for many talented photographers, gaining experience, and eventually started on my own in portrait photography. I continue to be active in online forums that allow me to learn from other professionals, as well as attending countless online courses in continuing education in photography.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I do portrait photography and print consultations. You invest your time and money into a photo session, why not make sure the prints from the shoot get up on your walls, not tucked away in a drawer somewhere. I work with my clients before shooting and afterwards while ordering prints to determine the best products and print sizing to be displayed in their home.
