FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I like to estimate how long each project will take and charge per hour: $10/hr - Pre-production - planning and prepping $20/hr - Production - filming and taking pictures $15/hr - Post-production - editing, color grading, animation, graphics Example// A two-minute promo video could take: 3-5 hours to plan 3-6 hours to film and 20-25 hours to edit That would leave it $390-545 or so depending on the extent of the project. Photography is a little different because it places more importance on the actual time taking pictures. That would be something I'd work out with the customer.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For all projects, I usually like to sit down for 20-30 minutes to: learn about the customer(s), develop a brief overview of the task at hand, plan where and when details for all future meetings, discuss pay, and try to understand the customer's vision for concept and meaning.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Oregon State University this Spring earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Communication Arts. - This degree involved a large number of production based classes including Pre-Production, Post-Production, Animation, Field Production, Screenwriting, Photography, Media Theory, and Production Management. I've had plenty of experience using just about every type of camera from DSLR's to industry standard 4k video cameras. Final Cut Pro is my preferred video editor, but I'm also very familiar with Adobe's Creative Cloud, especially Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom and Illustrator. For music production I've had 2 years experience with Ableton Live 9.
