Tom Helinski is actually very easy to communicate with: returning emails very quickly. He was able to answer and explain my son's calculus questions easily, and his price per hour is manageable. My only complaint is that PSU is a pain to get to and from during rush hour traffic and the hall that they conduct the tutoring in is very noisy.

Jennifer was available to start tutoring our youngest son in Middle School Algebra right away. She came over and gave a free Algebra lesson to him, who, surprisingly, actually seemed to enjoy it, and didn't try to leave the table like he usually does when he supposed to be doing his homework. We have hope now, and would love it if she can help him raise his grade to a "C" by the end of school.

Stefanie is a wonderful tutor and teacher. She has been tutoring my son in Math for 2 years now as he has moved from 8th Grade to 9th Grade at Benson High School. He now has a solid "B" in Geometry, when before he was struggling in all aspects of Math. She communicates well with us and his teachers and gives us good feedback on what he should be working on. You will be very happy if you use her for your son or daughter.

Mr Rabinowitz is an inordinately effective math tutor. He tutored all three of my children in grade school through high school level mathematics. He is engaging and adapts well to the individual student's learning style. Most importantly, he stresses problem solving rather than a cook book approach, which serves students well when they take the college entrance exams.

I was having trouble in my Algebra class. My teacher recommended one tutor, but after working with that tutor for several weeks I still wasn't understanding the material. I flunked my first quiz. I was totally discouraged. Then through a friend I found Dr. Gross who had tutored several people I knew in Calculus and Geometry. After my first session I knew this would be a different experience. This tutor gave me an evaluation and helped me understand the concepts from the class. We went over my first exam and I began to understand what I was doing wrong. On my next quiz I got an 85%! By the end of the semester I was getting A's on all my quizzes. I would totally recommend Dr. Gross to anyone having trouble with Algebra!

Kisha and tutorial staff went above and beyond to ensure that our children got the optimum experience. We are so appreciative that at times, it would take til late at night to make sure my son and daughter got good grades on their tests. Their scores improved greatly.

Ms. Jenny is wonderful she provides a warm, friendly and enjoyable atmosphere for learning when she tutors our twins. Even though there are two kids, she makes sure each gets their own individual attention. She has worked with our 3rd graders since August of 2012, we have seen a great improvement in reading, writing and math! Their teachers have also mentioned the progress they have observed with school subjects.

There are a few better feelings than helping somebody get to that Eureka moment, where a difficult problem suddenly becomes understandable, and that is why I want to tutor. I have extensive experience with Test Prep (ACT and GRE) and math tutoring, up to and including Calculus.

About

I tutor individuals and groups primarily in mathematics and Spanish, although I am able to tutor other subjects as well. I have a decade of tutoring experience and two years of teaching experience at a small high school where I taught high school math from algebra to AP Calculus. Through these experiences, I have learned how to help students understand subjects and work to achieve their goals. Learning how to do one problem isn't very helpful, but understanding the concepts and math behind that problem will allow students to conquer more challenging and complex material. I graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and International Peace Studies. This double major allowed me to take a challenging array of classes, and I am prepared to tutor students in a variety of subjects. In college, I spent two summers in Latin America studying Spanish as well as taking classes at Notre Dame at the 300-level. I am also able to tutor students in standardized test prep. I received a 35 on the ACT in high school, a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam and in the 99 percentile on the GRE. I have tutored elementary through college-level students, and I enjoy working with this variety of ages and abilities. I create a warm environment where the student is comfortable asking questions and feels free to make mistakes is paramount to my work. I help students who are struggling with homework, wanting to prepare for a test or looking for help in "learning how to learn" better. Below are the subjects that I specialize in tutoring. The math subjects that I specialize in are as follows: - Basic math - Pre-algebra - Algebra I - Algebra II - Geometry - Precalculus - Calculus - AP Calculus AB - AP Calculus BC - AP Statistics - College Calculus I, II and III - College algebra I can teach Spanish I, II and III.
