Dewey Smart is a team of current Ivy League students who provide Academic Tutoring, Test Prep, Extracurricular Development, and College Application Support.
Our Founder Michael Gao scored a 36 ACT and a 1550 SAT and understood the value of providing near-peer mentorship to students hoping to learn what it takes to enter top universities. He started Dewey Smart in his Columbia University dorm room, and since then, our team has grown to help students across the United States achieve their goals!
Our Team of 50 Ivy League Tutors and College Counselors are valedictorians, research scientists, entrepreneurs, wealth managers, AP Scholars, National Merit Scholars, and all-around impressive members of their communities who enjoy working with students of all backgrounds.
All of our services combine 1:1 mentorship with end-to-end support, a wealth of incredible academic and extracurricular resources, and years of leadership experience across the higher education landscape.

Academic Tutoring:
Our goal goes beyond teaching students content to help them firmly grasp the underlying concepts across every subject. Schedule sessions any day of the week, at nearly any time! Each session, we'll provide everything necessary, but we're also happy to address your individual syllabus and lesson requests. After, you will receive a comprehensive Session Summary of what your student accomplished, tutor feedback, and a personal plan for moving forward in the learning process. We ensure they stay on track!
Test Prep:
We offer sessions in SSAT, PSAT, SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IB, AP, & More! Because we only work with students 1:1, they get the individual attention they need to improve efficiently. We even offer complementary Diagnostic Tests for students to assess their current level of understanding, and we design personal plans to target key weaknesses. Whether you're struggling with subject knowledge, question types, time management, or anything else, we've got you covered! Let's improve your scores!
Admissions Counseling :
College Admissions are tougher than ever! Our leadership team has 56+ years of experience guiding students around the world into the universities of their dreams. We provide strategic oversight and management of your entire College Counseling journey, and we provide 1:1 sessions with an Ivy League Counselor aligned with your area of interest.
