FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Traditional Photography - For event photography I tailor my pricing based on time, what equipment (drones, number of cameras, etc) is needed, and the client's budget. I am super passionate about my photography but don't have 10 years experience as a professional wedding photgrapher. What I do have is a FAA Drone Pilot certification, a range of camera equipment, a creative eye, and years of photography editing experience. For a typical day of shooting (stils + video +aerials) and the subsequent 20-30 hours of photo editing and touching up I would charge anywhere from $1,000=$1500. Realistic 3D Modeling - Pricing depends on # of photos needed and processing time. For a typical home without surveying I would charge $500 to both fly and process the home into a 3D model that can be viewed online. For a larger industrial site I would charge up to $1,000. Survey Grade Mapping and Inspection - Utilizing a licensed survey partner to achieve cm-level accuracy I would charge anywhere from $1,500 to $15,000 depending on the size, complexity, deliverables, and required geospatial analysis. With high resolution cameras and precise survey I have found that in most cases I can create photo-derived point clouds and surface models with quality similar to LiDAR as well as cm resolution orthomosaics. Please reach out to me with any interest. Being a small emerging business in Oregon working from home I don't have the overhead costs of larger firms but I do have the industry certifications and experience to provide the same, if not better professional work and your data is never outsourced for processing oversees like many companies now do.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I am a strong believer that a good working relationship between a business and client is built on the foundation of active and frequent communication. For traditional photography work I like to meet clients for a coffee/beer to get a good idea of what they are seeking to capture for their event and I give them my creative ideas and let them decide on what they woud like. For professional aerial mapping/survey/inspection I work closely with clients to provide an HONEST assessment of what is possible to achieve their project needs based on current software and hardware technology. I will always ask a lot of questions before a job to ensure that I acquire all that is needed and also process the data it in a way that is most useful for them. I am happy to work with any clients to meet their needs within their given budget.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a self-taught traditional photographer. My skills and techniques have come from a lifetime of adventurous travels always with multiple cameras on hand and a GPS for tracking where I've been. My creative eye is born from a life time of trial and error in different lighting conditions photographing friends and family as my wife travel the Pacific Northwest and occasionally out into farther reaches of the world. For my geospatial and remote sensing mapping and survey work I have advanced degrees in teh earth sciences, a Masters in Geography and Remote Sensing, a strong cartography education and multiple leading industry certifications such as a GISP, Certified Photogrammetrist, and Certified Mapping Scientiist in Remote Sensing. I also have had advanced software training in the leading photogrammetry suites and professional training on advanced UAV platforms such as the Pulse Vapor 55 and Lockheed Martin Indago.
