Introduction: First of all, why. Why do I shoot weddings? I’ll probably never get married myself, I’m not super into Pinterest boards or new weddings trends, and I think burlap was a terrible plague upon the industry(read this all with sarcasm). But why? I’ll tell you why. To me being able to photograph one of the most important days in my couple’s lives is truly an honor I don’t take lightly. I know that 40 years from now, my photos are going to be hanging on the wall or in an album book to be shown off to the grandkids. It’s a huge responsibility, and because I only take 25 weddings a year I’m able to really find couples that are a great fit. To me it’s about finding that connection with a couple more than anything. I love a trendy venue or a mountaintop elopement, but if the genuine friendship with my couples isn’t there I’m doing my business wrong. So what I’d like to impart is that if you hire me, you also hire someone you can have beers with on the regular, take weekend camping trips with and make fun of me for being a Buffalo Bills fan(at your own peril of course). I find that when my couples and I have fostered that friendship I’m able to really capture the essence of what makes them, “them” on the wedding day.
My methodology is this: it’s most important to be authentic to yourselves. When it comes to your wedding I want you to not be afraid to follow your own hearts. So many couples feel pressure to have the wedding their family wants them to have when really they just want to elope to Iceland. I vote Iceland. I love my couples because they’re people I connect with on a personal level and not just paycheck. I’d love to grab a pint and just get to know you and your fiancé first if we’re in the area. If not, let’s set up a Skype chat or a phone call(I’m a big believer in a phone conversation vs 20 emails). Having a fun, relaxed and whenever possible, adventurous wedding day is important to me. Don’t worry though, if traditional is your thing, I’m 100 percent happy to capture those moments as well. If you think we sound like a good fit shoot me an email and let’s get the ball rolling.
