FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer special kickstarter rates for Thumbtack customers.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
With a first session, an brief intake and assessment is typical. We will talk about medical history, current issues, and goals for treatment. Based on the different types of work I can do, we will then decide about the best course forward with treatment. A session then will be determined by the success of our agreed upon plan or will be adapted together to determine the best outcome.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received all of my primary massage therapy training at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. World famous for Esalen Massage, a flowing, balancing approach to Swedish massage, I felt it was the best, most relaxing massage I had ever had. I was certified in Esalen Massage and also became one of the then few Deep Bodywork practitioners. Deep Bodywork is an integrative approach to deep tissue work, based out of Esalen Massage, that slowly changes deeper structures - fascia, muscles, stuck energy - to create better balance and relieve chronic deeply held issues. I have completed a one year mentorship in Applied Postural Mechanics, an adapted form of the osteopathic Muscle Energy Technique for massage therapy. This approach "corrects" soft tissue imbalances to create better postural alignment and increased joint mobility. More akin to manual therapy, this technique is very effective at helping with acute injury and chronic issues to move out of pain and into better movement. Lastly, I have completed training in CranioSacral Therapy, a gentle, non-invasive type of work addressing the craniosacral system in the body. The craniosacral system is the series of membranes and fluid surrounding the spinal cord and the brain. Responsible for protecting and supporting this vital part of our body, any sort of impingement or restriction can have wide ranging effects on health. With slow, gentle techniques, clients with long held and consequential health issues have had extreme positive change on my table. I also hold a Bachelors from American University in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution. This training has prepared me for work across all populations and was the basis of my former career as an international community organizer.
