Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Hi, my name is Claire, and I love animals! I have been providing professional pet sitting services for over twelve years. I have a BA in Animal Biology from George Mason University and have completed internships at the Smithsonian Zoo and the National Aquarium, so I have a great deal of experience working with many kinds of exotic animals. I have cared for many different kinds of pets while their owners were out of town, including ducks, rabbits, lizards, snakes, fish, birds, rats, ferrets, frogs, and of course, cats and dogs. I have experience working with young kittens and puppies and administering medications when needed. I always strive to make pets feel as happy and as comfortable as possible while they are in my care and take the time to interact with them beyond just the basics. I can also take care of other household needs, including taking in the mail and newspapers, watering plants, taking out the trash, etc. I live in the Irvington/Sullivan's Gulch area, and I have my own car, so transportation is not a problem. I am happy to work with anyone within about three miles of me for pet visits at your house. I am also able to care for small caged animals (reptiles, amphibians, rodents, etc.) in my home while you are out of town. In this scenario, I'm willing to work with clients up to five miles from me and can do pickup and drop-off if needed. I have several excellent references and will gladly provide them upon request! I look forward to working with you and your furry, scaly, feathery or even slimy friends.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Because each family has their own individual needs, it is difficult to come up with a price that will work for everybody. Therefore, I find it easiest to assess each clients needs and all other factors related to the job when coming up with my rates. I have a base rate of $12 per visit, and my rate per visit does increase when there are extra needs (such as multiple animals, animals who require medications, extra household needs like watering a large outdoor garden daily, etc). However, my rate per visit can decrease when multiple visits per day are needed, or when care is needed long term, or if you live close to me (within 3/4 mile of 19th and NE Wasco St). Overnight stays (10pm to 7am) are a flat $40 per night (which does not include additional daytime services). Some recent examples include: I work with a family who lives about 3/4 mile from me that has 8 bearded dragons (who require daily, individual feeding of live insects), five aquatic frogs, and fish in a separate aquarium. They require one visit per day (generally for a period of 3-4 days) and the rate we have agreed upon is $15 per day. I worked with a family who had an active puppy who required overnight stays (9:30pm to 7:30am), and two additional visits per day. Their rate was $60 per day (including the overnight stay), for a period of just over 48 hours. I worked with another family who had four ducks, ten rats (one of whom required medication twice daily), a large puppy (who needed two walks per day), two cats, and a kitten. They required three visits per day over a ten day period and, after discussion, we agreed upon $300 total (which works out to only $10 per visit). When caring for your pet in my home, the cost is $10-14 per day, depending upon how much care and attention they will need. Please note that services in my home are only available for small, caged animals (such as reptiles, amphibians, and rodents). If you need long term care I am also willing to discuss a discounted rate.
