Having studied music performance, advanced music theory, and the art of effective tutoring as a part of my higher education doesn’t make me unique teacher, but it definitely puts me in a different category than most guitar and piano instructors around town. I have lessons every week with Rory, and each week, I learn something new that helps me advance my career as a musician. Wether it be a new exercise, or a cool bit of music theory, I am always happy with the lesson when it's over. If you want to truly learn and practice guitar, do the work and you'll be pleasantly surprised with how much you get out of one lesson.

Rory has taught my 13 year old son guitar for about a year. Now he is ready for his 7th grade guitar class at school. My son likes Rory. The two main qualities we liked about Rory was that he was flexible with us with scheduling. As a busy mom I sometimes have conflicting schedules with my kids. Also, he is mellow, relaxed and has a comfortable personality with us. It would be good to continue in summer.

Rory is a naturally talented musician and thoughtful teacher. I have had the opportunity to see him work with students young and old and they feel comfortable with Rorys friendly nature and easy going style of teaching. He engages his students by helping them conceptualize their musical passions and encourages them through consistent practice and hard work to develop their own musical style. Rory weaves into his lessons his vast knowledge of music theory and history while stressing the importance of developing focused routines and the discipline that it takes to be a good musician.

While studying for a degree in music performance on classical guitar, as an older student we tutored the new ones. After college, it seemed like a good fit for my life and something that suited my personality. Also, I just love music, guitar in particular.
