- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently becoming certified in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, which is a 5-6 year process. I also attend a monthly consultation group and receive regular continuing education in various areas of counseling and psychotherapy including laws and ethics, recent research in trauma and neurobiology, and other areas that pertain to the needs of my clients.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The key for therapy to be effective ultimately comes down to the relationship between you and your therapist. Do you feel seen, heard, and respected by your therapist? Is there a level of rapport? Because a good match is so important, I offer a free, 30-minute consultation. It is a time for you to "try me on" as well as tell me what you are looking for in a therapist. If we feel it is a good match, and that my style of work will prove useful, we can proceed. If not, I can refer you to other therapists who may match your needs better.
