About
I am a PhD professor (UNC, PSU, Duke, Virginia Tech, William & Mary) with 20 years of award-winning teaching under my belt. I teach high school, college and community college students the basics of standardized test-taking, composition, college admissions, logic, standard math, study skills, and social sciences. I coach you through the admissions process, get you excited about learning new skills, and take the anxiety out of test-taking. I work solo on a flexible schedule and keep my overhead low by working with you in your home, my home in inner SE PDX, or online.

Ali was my writing tutor during my undergraduate degree. She was engaging, helpful, and thoughtful while working with me. Ali coached me though the application for my masters degree and I’m proud to have my MPH now. Ali will help you reach your academic goals!

My son worked with Ali leading up to his SAT testing, and I can confidently say that she made a huge difference in both his score and his confidence. She has a strong ability to break down complex concepts clearly, and was always patient, encouraging, and quick to adapt if something wasn’t working for him. With the increase in his score, he’s now in a great position for college admissions. I highly recommend Ali to anyone looking for a supportive, knowledgeable, and effective SAT tutor!

We worked with Alli to help my son prepare for the SAT, and they were phenomenal. Not only did she know the test inside and out, but she also knew how to teach it in a way that clicks. She quickly identified my son’s strengths and struggles, built a personalized plan, and kept him engaged and motivated throughout.
Beyond content, Alli taught invaluable test-taking strategies—time management, smart guessing, and staying calm under pressure. My son walked into the exam confident and prepared, and his score improved significantly.
If you’re looking for someone who’s not just a great tutor but also a great coach, Alli is it. Total game changer.

Ali is the real deal! Super intuitive into our junior’s needs for grasping the material and truly understanding and learning how to take the ACT exam. We’re so grateful for her tutoring! Their scores between the practice test and the real thing soared after our time with Ali. I would recommend her to everyone!!

Ali is a great instructor: organized, responsive, patient and able to clearly explain complex topics and nuances!
Words are powerless to express my gratitude to you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for never letting me down. My gratitude to you for all you have done, which I will never forget. I truly appreciate you and your time you spent helping me in many occasions.
Without the blink of an eye, am saying you are the best professor that has ever taught me. Teaching does not only entails pouring out academic stuffs but the way the lecturer convey the concept and ideology behind the topic in relation to real life situation to the students, this, you have combined in an excellent way that even the non-academics can digest. These qualities of yours have distinguished you as an excellent lecturer.
