FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The fee is $75 per hour for all types of counseling sessions whether they be individual, couples, or family. Each session is a full 60 minutes versus the usual 50 minute session offered by most therapists and clinics. I do not accept insurance. Payment can be made via cash, check, credit card, Venmo, or direct bank transfer.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The process varies depending on the clients and the presenting problems. However, with marital therapy there is a general process in which I first assess the couple’s dynamic around the presenting problem (for example, how the couple handles conflict rather than what they fight about). In other words, process rather than content. I then identify each client’s individual behavior within the couple’s dynamic that perpetuates the conflict. We then work together to identify where that behavior came from and what purpose it served (for example, family of origin work and past relationships). We then work to change the individual behaviors within the couple dynamic. Most clients are more willing to change a behavior if they have a raised awareness and consciousness about where it came from and what purpose it served.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned my Masters in Family Therapy degree (MFT) from Drexel University in 2008. Drexel University has one of the most highly regarded MFT programs in the nation. I also read a lot of books by some of the most highly regarded marital therapists and researchers in the field to keep abreast of different theoretical orientations and therapies.
