My move was local, but the crew treated it like it was cross-country. They took great care with my items, but didn't compromise speed. They were really friendly and accommodating. Big thumbs up to Jay, who set it up, and to Jaime, Juan, and Jesse on their professionalism and expediency. I would recommend them to anyone who's moving. Thanks guys!

I really enjoyed their services...will never move without movers again. The only downfall was that they were an hour late for moving because they had a job before mine. But other than that they were great!!

We could not have asked for better movers. Darrel and Michael were on time, fast, efficient, professional, and courteous! We had several questions prior to the move and Darrel responded quickly to each one. These guys really knew what they were doing and had our truck packed neatly in no time with room to spare. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone in the area!

I had a great moving experience with this company. I was promised 2 movers but I they brought 3 & still kept my rate the same. They worked hard & quickly but were very careful with my belongs. I was worried about going over the 3 hour minimum but they stayed within the time limit which was great. I didn't have to lift one piece of furniture or any boxes. This definitely made my moving experience very easy & stress-free! I would definitely recommend My Labor & Moving to my friends & family. Well done!

Quality east coast movers are great ! They helped me move from bronx NYC to Hoboken New Jersey , Victor was very nice and kind and his partner . They covered all my furniture with blankets and carried out all my boxes with caution because I had a lot of dishes packed At least 4 China boxes they came early , the job took about 3 hours from 9am till 12pm . By 1:30pm they were unloading at my new place in nj I mean, I don't have much furniture I had 1 queen mattress huge head board big dresser and a few boxes but these guys are good. The teamwork amazed me. In just a few hours I was in my new home. Thank goodness because some Boxes were heavy and furniture are fragile. I could not have done this on my own. If I had to make an improvement to this move . You got to smell good victor was cool but the other guy kinda smelled funny, he just had my whole apartment in a odor during the move. Was kinda funny, Some deodorant would of helped or some cologne :)

They messaged me in the morning saying their truck was not working. I waited hours while they supposedly were looking for a uhaul and said they’d have one by 12. They called and said wherever they were told to go, there weren’t any trucks. They said they’d come the next day with an extra mover, and get it done quickly. Next day came, no movers. Called them, no answer. Had to rent a uhaul and look for help on a Sunday last minute. If you actually want help movers, hiring them is a gamble. I was very patient and am forgiving but serving customers is usually the point of having a business.

I will surely recommend Movers & co every time I hear that someone I know is moving. I was nervous about my moving day but once the movers arrived I felt such a sense of relief. They took the time to wrap and protect all my larger items while moving them. They were very efficient, courteous, and professional.

Movers for ME had outstanding service from the timeliness, to the hospitality, to the pricing! The day of my move-in, they came early and had an accomadable truck with extra space. They had so much staff to help load the truck and a decent amount to unload when we got to our final destination. The men had good manners and were very friendly. I truly enjoyed my experience with movers for ME!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
