Hi! My name is Lauren, and I'm an incoming freshman in college. I will be attending the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State University (8% acceptance rate). I have been tutoring since 9th grade and enjoy working with students of all ages and backgrounds! Last year, I scored a 1550 on the SAT and a 1520 on the PSAT. Additionally, I earned a score of 5 on the following AP exams: Calculus BC, Statistics, Psychology, and English Language and Composition. Over the past 3 years, I have maintained an A+ average in all of my classes, the majority of which were AP and honors-level. I was recently recognized as a National Merit Finalist, and some other awards that I have received include the AP Scholar with Distinction award, the Silver President's Volunteer Service Award, and a $500 scholarship for outstanding performance in volunteer work.
Although I didn't take the SAT until 10th grade, I began tutoring SAT Prep as a freshman because I consistently scored highly (1450+) on practice exams. I tutor ESL students as well as neurodivergent students and am confident in my ability to adapt my teaching style to meet the needs of the student. I have also been tutoring math for three years. With my expertise in courses like algebra, geometry, and calculus, I am able to make difficult concepts "click" for struggling students.
Additionally, I am well-versed in writing and grammar. Despite my age, I have experience with college essay writing/editing. These past few months, I edited countless friends' essays, and the majority of them were admitted to the colleges that I helped them write essays for. I personally wrote 61 essays during my own college admission process, and I was accepted into a college with an 8% acceptance rate. I can help students construct a college list, plan their application process, and write quality essays.
I am a very outgoing individual, and my personality allows even the shyest students to build confidence in their abilities and thrive academically. In the future, I hope to attend medical school to become a pediatric cardiologist and use tutoring to help fund my education!
