- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In the first few lessons, we assess students abilities and learning styles. We also introduce and review posture, hand position (piano students) and breathing (voice students), as they are the foundation of all great music making. Once preferences and aptitude are determined, lessons will consist and technical exercises, sight-reading fundamentals, and song coaching. These three components will develop students to work toward their goals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Derek has just completed his masters in music education from Boston University and we both continue to study with local voice teachers to improve our own performance and educational abilities.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My parents introduced me to opera when I was very young and I grew up with it all my life. I decided to pursue music as a career, not only because I love it, but to make them proud as well.
