I would like to take this time to share the experience my husband and I have had while working with “DJ” Ralph Williams. It all started when we were deciding on a DJ to hire for our June 29, 2013 wedding. We originally hired DJ Gordon Slagel but he cancelled on us since his neighbor was getting married the same day and wanted to DJ for their wedding. We then had to search the internet for a new DJ. We looked on Thumbtack and then found Ralph Williams. My husband posted an ad so potential DJ’s could bid on our event. Ralph responded back along with several other DJ’s. My husband was sure to ask questions like “What equipment do you use?” “How do you back up your music?” etc. Ralph talked himself up very good and we decided we wanted to meet with him. We arranged a meeting and told Ralph all the info he needed. That meeting he specifically said, “Since I’m your DJ, here is my contract.” He made my husband sign it that day. We just gave in since we did not have anymore time to waste since the wedding was a few months away. He also played a guilt trip saying he was really hurting for money and that he is all alone since his wife died a couple years ago. I also want to mention, during the meeting he told us what songs HE WILL PLAY for the events and that he likes to sing a long to the songs…but yet he refuses to do karaoke. He was handed a very detailed song list that included EVERY song we wanted for the events (included artist name and name of song) we gave him a play list that was 2 pages long of songs to play during the reception and the do not play list was VERY specific. He played 3 songs on my do not play list. He claimed someone came up and requested one of the songs. (It was on the do not play list) He played maybe 5 songs from my playlist but that was after I had to confront him to stop playing the old music noone has ever heard of. His music skipped the entire time. Even the bridal party dance song skipped! During the first meeting, I asked him if he could specially mix 2 particular songs a certain way and he told me yes that is not a problem. Well a week before the wedding, my husband met up with him to finalize everything and the DJ told my husband he has everything on CD’s and its all backed up. He was also told he got to mix the 2 songs I requested. On the wedding day when the bridal party arrived from pictures was my “favorite” part. Ralph cornered me the second I got to the reception venue and literally yelled at me claiming we never gave him a song for the bridal party entrance and the bridal party dance. To his surprise, it was right there on the paper in his hand in writing highlighted  During cocktail hour, he asked my guests (one the guests that wanted to hire him for their daughters wedding) “Can you find the song called ““Wild Weekend” by Luke Bryan”” for me? “Wild Weekend” was the song for the Bridal Party Dance. By the way, that song skipped 3 or 4 times. He came to the head table 3 times throughout dinner because he obviously didn’t know what he was doing. When the bridal party was called up to get dinner from the buffet, Ralph was right in line behind my husband and I. The bridal party was not even in line yet! He was to go last! He also took 4 to-go boxes of food home too! After dinner, the photographer wanted to get a family photo of certain people, so some of us (about 20 people) went to a separate room for the photo and the DJ stopped playing music and just sat there in complete silence. Also during cocktail hour, he was completely set up and played no music! Our guests were very upset! During the entire reception, he could not run things smoothly. There was at least 5 seconds of silence in between each song. Our guests wanted to dance but they didn’t due to his lack of experience. The only time people were up dancing was when the cha-cha slide came on and the electric slide. His job is to make people get up and dance. He then tells my husband that he didn’t get to mix the 2 songs I requested….oh and he had to pull up half the songs on Youtube. He did not know how to run a reception….he waited to do the cake cutting after half my guests left. And when it came time to do the money dance, he specifically announced, “Come on up guys, lets get this over with!” That was so rude! That is my time to make my money. Not to mention, he also did the money dance after most of my guests left. I lost out on even more money. He was so bad my husband went up to him and fired him and told him to go home. My photographer even pulled me aside and flipped out because he was so bad. She was telling me to get my money back. I figure there is no point in getting that back since he was hurting for money so bad and he doesn’t have it. We just want to get our review out anywhere we can think of to prevent possible future clients from the disappointment we encountered. We were so disgusted with his performance and everything that happened. To his surprise, I had few friends that came (they are getting married soon and wanted to hire him as a DJ) based on his performance, he lost 3 gigs. Too bad. Please reconsider hiring Ralph Williams as your DJ unless you want your event completely ruined and if you want to work with an unprofessional lying pig. He ruined my husband and I’s reception and we will never forget it.

This was a last mintue decision on a very tight buget to work with when i turned to thumbtack. Dj Ralph williams was the only one to respond. I met with him twice before the wedding to go through all the details. The reception was short but he showed up early to set up. He didnt play music while my guests were arriving but when dinner started it went well. my wedding reception did not go as planned but all the songs were still played and Ralph was very quick to change it up to go with the flow. I read the bad reviews and i think he has learned from his mistakes. I think he did and acceptional job for the event being such last minute. The only thing that could have gone better was the timing. I feel like during dinner and the inbetween he lost track of time. and none of the events such as the mother /son and father/ daughter dance were as we talked about. Still the reception was great.

All I can say about this Dj is AMAZING!!! From the first time we met with him all the way up until our big day he was on the ball. Sending me info I needed and checking in on things like how to pronounce the wedding parties names and a must play list. Then, I didnt know I needed a dj for the ceremony as well and he put something together for that beautifully and in a very short amount of time. Then the reception, he played every song I wanted plus more up to beat songs. Not to mention one song imparticular that was very old but near and dear to my mothernlaws heart. They found, downloaded it on the spot and played it. All on all, Dj Fun is definately the way to go for any event, hes friendly, knows his job and is a reasonable price. We highly recommend him, hes perfect for any occasion !!!!
