Introduction: I am a horticulturist at heart. I spent 10 plus years studying and working in the field before striking out on my own. My goal is to provide homeowners with beautiful gardens full of plants without the worry of maintenance. I couldn’t be happier with my experience with Ila & Versa Services. I needed weeding done for my very overgrown backyard (my yard is paved with stones, and there’s no lawn, so it was just a mess of weeds). Two businesses I had worked with previously had not responded to my requests to schedule or scheduled repeatedly and didn’t show, respectively. So by now, my yard was an eyesore & potential fire hazard because of the Red Flag Warnings, plus I was expecting a citation from the City any day. Ila understood the urgency and scheduled me ASAP at the end of her workday on what I suspect was a busy Saturday and worked beyond the allotted time to get the job done. The yard looks great, and a huge worry has been lifted from my mind. She also used a weed repellent that will last for six months, whereas others had always used one that required monthly treatments. Instead of using my lack of knowledge to guarantee herself a monthly job as others had, she did the best thing for me as her client. I’m as grateful for this as I am for the great job that she did; I’m on disability, so my budget is tight. As a result of not having this anticipated monthly expense, I can now afford to have an unused garden plot in my yard planted for the first time since I moved here. Ila will return in about two weeks to do that work. Finally, I will have a backyard with some beauty and color! Once the work is complete, I’ll amend this review to include photos. I highly recommend Versa Services if you need gardening work done well and reasonably priced by a responsive and friendly Pro.

Ila was so helpful in getting my neglected flower beds back into shape. Her knowledge of plants (as well as weeds) enabled her to get rid of unnecessary growth in my garden and salvage my struggling perennials. She also had some great recommendations for handling a few problem areas in the flower beds. We already talked about having Ila come out again next spring to get the growing season started on the right foot. I really appreciated Ila's professionalism and knowledge.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing is based on the job and may include plant pickup and delivery, drive mileage and time, fertilizer, weed preventer, and other miscellaneous garden services. The hourly rate is $50 an hour and mileage is calculated at $0.625 per mile, roundtrip.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
An rough estimate is the first necessary step. Photos help immensely with this process. I often can formulate a plan with just them. Be prepared to state what you want and how so my work will align with your vision. A schedule can then be formulated. Next, the work will begin. Finally, you can enjoy your garden without worrying too much about maintenance.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I trained as a horticulturist in 3 different schools. Western Montgomery County Technical School - Environmental Design Longwood Gardens - Professional Gardener Program Temple University - Bachelors of Science - Horticulture
