FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
At PenVal, either Jack or Joe (the owners of PenVal) meet with a new customer at the location where the work will be done. After some initial info gathering, they will "build" the customer's vision of what they want done. As they do this, Jack or Joe, will offer suggestions as well as point out any code requirements to be considered based on their combined 70 plus years in the business. The end result is a thorough understanding of what the customer wants on PenVal's part as well as a more detailed and comprehensive understanding on the customer's part. From there we craft an estimate that has no surprises and the customer can rest assured that they won't be getting any "Oh by the way" conversations when we move forward with the project.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Be careful. PenVal has been in this business for 24 years and it might surprise some folks how often we get called to fix a problem because our new customer can't get a hold of the people that did the original work. PenVal may not be able to beat those folks on price, but we've been doing this for 24 years, we have a 5 Star service rating, and a 5 year workmanship guarantee.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Often we have found customers that have planned to their budget without considering what impacts local building codes may require. Sometimes, they may be small, like adding some GFI outlets, other times it may require substantially more because they might have to bring something "up to code" to pass inspections.
