Hammer did a very good job on my project. Craftsman and knowledge of my project went very well, replacing four support post for my porch. Painted the new wood and removed the old debris. Looking forward to finishing the installment of a screen system for the porch.

Konstantin did an amazing job rehabbing our old wooden deck. While other contractors were simply going to power wash and slap a coat of stain on it, Konstantin took the time to thoroughly inspect the deck and show us some serious structural issues lurking underneath. He powerwashed and sanded the entire deck, replaced boards and structural posts, secured wobbly railings, and coated everything beautifully with new stain. Feels like we have a whole new deck!Konstantin was very communicative about when he would be on site, conscientious about our schedule, and kept the area clean throughout the project. He is honest, knowledgeable, hardworking, and truly cares about doing things correctly to deliver a long lasting result. Highly recommend!!

The deck and stairs connected to my Center City row home were worn out by the elements and starting to rot. I needed all the wood replaced. I found Hammer & Hew online and contacted them. Within a day or two, Konstantin came to my home to evaluate the project and take measurements. I had a written proposal in hand shortly thereafter.I had some questions and refinements, which Konstantin responded to quickly and professionally. We agreed on scope and cost and work began within a week.The job progressed quickly and I could see the commitment to quality in all aspects. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 5 years of hands-on experience in residential carpentry, focused specifically on decks, stairs, railings, and outdoor structures. My training was built through real-world work under senior builders who taught me how to build correctly, safely, and to code.
I am proficient in deck framing, load-bearing structures, stair layout, and code-compliant railing systems. I understand not just how to build, but why things must be done a certain way for strength, safety, and long-term durability.
