About
I will help you start out right with a new puppy or rescue dog. You will learn how to set boundaries and teach manners to your dog. Your dog can learn basic obedience skills, as well as how to better focus and pay attention to you. I can also help with behavior problems, including aggression, destructive behavior, constant barking, or just generally not listening to you. If you have multiple dogs that don't always get along, I can help with that, or if you have a well-behaved dog that is just bored and you want it to learn nifty tricks, I can set you up to wow your family and friends. I only use positive training methods, and I guide you at developing a more harmonious relationship with your dog.

We were happy with the training our dog, Winter, received from CJ. She was always on time to our appointments, and managed to find treats that our picky dog could get excited about! We have seen progress over the last month, and that is what we had hoped for. We would definitely recommend CJ!

C.J. is a dog whisperer :-) We needed help with our Golden Retriever (Maple, 8 months when we began the training) to fix some issues like nipping, jumping on people, go for a walk, focus her energy (she has a lot), ... We had her come to our house for a few private sessions, and she did an amazing job. We've just finished a 5 weeks course (6+ hours) and plan on taking more after some "homework" we have to do with Maple. Maple loves C.J. and we all learned a lot from her. She has a "soft" training methodology that appears to be very efficient and rewarding. Every week as we practice we can see obvious improvement with Maple's behavior. C.J. is always on time, very easy to work with, seriously, we cannot say enough good things about her. and the excellent job she's done for us.

CJ was very informative and was a great aid in the training of our rescued cattle dog. She provided many tips that will be useful as our family works with our new addition and was able to pin point some behaviors that are common with the breed. Great experience!

CJ has worked with me and my dog Nichols for a very short time but I have seen good results quickly. I feel hopeful again that my beloved dog can be happy and relaxed when he is alone. More work to do but it is really fun. Thanks CJ

CJ is a great dog-trainer/human-teacher, and a very good deal. She helped us better understand how to develop our relationship with our dog, gave us a number of fun ways to play games that simultaneously helped our dog better understand HOW to learn (and that learning itself is a fun game), and left us with lots of good ideas for how to continue on our own. CJ is very flexible in finding a mutually good time to meet. She brings a lot of experience to her work. She pushed the humans in the family to become more comfortable with our dog's unique personality while also making us feel good about what we are able to do. When we became busy and didn't schedule follow-up meetings, she gently (professionally) prodded us to make sure we took advantage of the full five sessions we had pre-paid for. She was generous with each session's time, and enjoyed working with us and our dog. Unlike dog training classes we've attended with dogs in the past, which are impersonal and which do not necessarily help you figure out what to do when the dog does not respond right away, CJ's private sessions focus on the unique talents and dispositions of the dog in the family, as well as how to break training into small enough parts so that the dog can succeed. We highly recommend her.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

First of all, remember that your dog is probably as confused as you are so be patient with your dog even when he is driving you crazy. The most important thing to remember with any dog problem is to stay calm... and then call someone to help if you feel that you are in over your head.
