Introduction: I am a full time, independent, private tutor and music instructor living in Philadelphia. I have 2 years of experience teaching the SAT in one-on-one, group, and classroom settings. I have a thorough understanding of the SAT: the organization of the test and the scoring processes that help students understand its inner workings, and; the reading and vocabulary skills, math concepts, grammar rules, and test-taking strategies that are the keys to success. I develop personalized programs for my students based on their abilities, help students set and achieve goals, and empower students with the knowledge and confidence that are necessary for peak performance on test day. My students typically see an increase of several hundred points in their overall scores, and often times show even more drastic improvement. I find it important to develop good relationships with my students, and have great success in earning their confidence, respect, and affinity. The SAT season is fast approaching, which is especially important to consider if you are in your junior year of high school. If you're planning to take the SAT this spring, now is the time to start preparing. Enlisting the aid of a private tutor who can assess your strengths and weaknesses and bring focus to the SAT preparation process is invaluable. My rates are very competitive: you'd pay companies like The Princeton Review or Kaplan over twice as much for a tutor of my experience. I will come to your home as long as an adult can be present, eliminating the time and stress of traveling to a third-party location. While I can't charge less for my services, I am willing to work with small groups of students in order to make tutoring more cost-effective for each participating family. Conveniently, I also have ample experience tutoring all levels of Math, English Composition, English Grammar, Reading Comprehension, Science and History. Though usually less sought after, I have experience preparing students for other standardized tests such as the ACT, ISEE, and SSAT. Additionally, I provide guitar and piano lessons for students of all ages. I have spent the last 12 years studying music and have 4 years of experience as a recording artist and touring musician. I have had great success engaging students of all ages from the age of 5. I design a program specific to each student's goals, integrating development of the student's understanding of chords, scales, and music theory with an emphasis on playing songs the student knows and enjoys.
