- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I give the customer a full description of my process and ideas for what they need. I offer a free conceptual sample before working on any project so that the customer can decide whether my art style is what they want and if they are interested in working with me. I consult them on their specific needs and begin to develop the idea. So my illustration process is this: Step 1- Concepts and Line work. I create a base for the entire illustration. During this process nothing is set in stone. The customer can request and change full of charge before we finalize the idea. Step 2- Completed line work. This is the base of the design the customer is searching for. Before continuing on to the coloring process we discuss whether or not the image must be print ready (CMYK) or purely digital (RGB). Pixel ratios are set and dimensions are chosen. Step 3- Illustration. I go through the process of illustration which is the bulk of the work and finalizing my idea. Step 4- Iteration. These are extra changes wanted to the design. This is not free; being work I did not account for I charge based on the amount of work needed. Step 5- Final Transaction and Usage. We discuss usage rights for the piece, prices, and payment options.
