Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi, Elana is hands down the right choice for you. I’ve done yoga off and on for years, while my boyfriend was relatively new. Elana not only tailors the class to each of us, but genuinely understands our areas of strength and improvement. Every single class is different and curated to your stress level, soreness, what you want to get out of it, etc. Elana takes the time to remember things you tell her about your body, and you can tell she truly loves when you make progress on even the smallest thing. She’s also incredibly professional. I’m picky about who I let into my space/home, but I’ve never once felt uncomfortable by her. You’ll be mind blown by your progress with just one class a week with Elana. She’s easily our favorite instructor either of us have had, and we have no plans of stopping our private sessions with her. If you’re on the fence, go for it - her class is worth every penny. Thanks, Elana!!

I’ve worked with Elana in private yoga sessions for many months and she has truly enhanced my experience with what it means to be a Yogi. Being a former student athlete, her ability to enhance my strengths and drastically improve my weaknesses have meant a lot in my daily physical and mental well being. I don’t think I would have ever jumped started my experience as a Yogi this much if it wasn’t for starting personalized yoga workouts with Elana. I would highly recommend starting sessions with her if you want the best experience!

I have been practicing with Elana one to two times weekly for quite some time now. She is creative and knowledgable, blending a wonderful mind/body experience. Her personalized instructions and modifications, along with her hands on adjustments, help to push her students to new levels. I recommend Elana unconditionally!

"O body swayed to music, O brightening glance, How can we know the dancer from the dance?" W.B. Yeats Elana brings yoga students to the dance. The music of movement. The brightness of spirit. The poet's lines tell the story of what I have witnessed as a student in her classes. Elana's way of organizing yoga for her students is a physical sequence that leads to a spiritual consequence. The exercise is radical and so much more than the postures and the limits of anatomical stretch and fold. The practice has that intensity and strength. But I've come to think of my experience in her class as a series of transitions from one attitude to another. Each physical change in the chain of events comes as a surprise, newly situated. Although there's repetition and lots of corporal work, nothing is predictable. Quite to the contrary, the classes are transformative. The ultimate pose struck in this dance is meditative. I experience change, unexpectedly, every time. Seeing ourselves in a new way, we're left asking, with Yeats, "How can we know the dancer from the dance?" The answer comes with open=ended reflection on a peace within moments of meditative rest that Elana's energy inspires.

Elana was one of the first instructors that got me into the yoga lifestyle and I haven't looked back since. Her practice is great for beginners but also challenging enough for someone who is a regular. I highly recommend anyone that is looking for a quality yoga session that's also very descriptive and mindful to take Elana Stern's class! Thank you!

• What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

  Fees are based upon group size and location. For in-home sessions, travel fees apply for distances outside Center City Philadelphia area. Clients are invited to come to my Center City studio for an additional small studio rental fee. Virtual online sessions are available at no additional cost.

• What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

  During our first session together, we discuss your current physical form, intentions and expectation, and goals for your practice.
