FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard rate is $55 per hour for individualized ESL and reading support. This includes personalized lesson planning, progress updates, and materials tailored to your child’s needs. I keep my pricing simple and family-friendly — no hidden fees. I offer longer session discounts for families who want more structured time: 90-minute sessions: $5 off 2-hour sessions: $10 off If you have two children who would like to learn together, I offer small group rates: 2 students: +$15 per hour 3 students: +$25 per hour There are no travel fees for families within my South Hills service area, and I never charge for brief parent check-ins or updates after each lesson. My goal is to make high-quality ESL and reading support accessible, consistent, and predictable for your family.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When I begin working with a new family, I start with a short conversation to understand your child’s goals, strengths, and areas where they need support. I ask about their school experience, language background, confidence with English, and any specific concerns you want addressed. After that, we schedule an initial session where I do gentle, low-stress activities to learn how your child learns best. This includes reading a short passage together, practicing vocabulary, or doing a simple language task depending on their level. I use this time to make your child feel comfortable and confident. From there, I create a personalized plan focused on steady progress in English vocabulary, reading, writing, and communication. Every session follows a clear routine so your child always knows what to expect. I also provide quick parent updates after each lesson so you know exactly how your child is improving and what we’ll work on next. My goal is to make the process simple, supportive, and encouraging for both the student and the family.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Master’s degree in Special Education and am a certified ESL Program Specialist in Pennsylvania. I have extensive experience working with multilingual learners, students with reading challenges, and children who benefit from structured academic support. I’ve taught ESL and reading in both school and tutoring settings, including work with cyber school students, early learners, and newcomers adjusting to English for the first time. My training includes evidence-based reading instruction, phonics and decoding strategies, executive functioning support, and culturally responsive teaching practices. I use these tools every day to help students build confidence, strengthen their English skills, and make meaningful progress in school.
