I have such a love for skin care and makeup that I use my skin knowledge to help pick the perfect makeup for each individual person! I like to do a free trial to help my brides decide on their looks! I usually do three looks to make it as stress free on my brides as possible!! Since I was young makeup has been an art to me! Over the years I have leaned amazing tools to make every woman feel amazing!! Weddings are such special days for my brides and their families and I love to make that day even better!!! My favorite part of being an esthetician and makeup artist is being able to make my clients feel absolutely amazing and fabulous after I'm done! I also like to help educate as I work so my clients can do a similar job at home!

I just returned from an AMAZING weekend in Charleston. My best friend decided to surprise me with a HUGE bachelorette party this past weekend. She hired Erin to do our makeup before going "out to dinner". I had NO IDEA a bunch of my friends and bridesmaids were also in town for my big surprize party. My friend told me we were getting our makeup done because I was finally visiting her and she never gets to go out (being a single mom of two) and she wanted it to be special. I later learned my friend told Erin about my surprise and that it was important I look my best! When we started, I had told Erin how I wanted my makeup, "low key and subtle" ( I rarely wear makeup and am not a big fan of wearing more then lipgloss and mascara). She encouraged, without being pushy, that I step out of my norm and just "trust her". I figured, sure its only dinner! She even waxed my brows (she is also an esthetician). I had intended to get them threaded before my trip, but did not have time before I left Florida. She was super gentle and did a PHENOMENAL job!! I truly do not recall my eyebrows EVER looking better. I wish she lived in florida so she could do my brows every week! She did a smokey eye look with awesome eyeshadow colors I would of never even considered buying. She explained what she was doing along the way, including why certain colors worked for my skin type and eye color. She also took the time to show my how to do a "cat eye" which I have never been able to get right! lol. I usually wear a clear shimmery lipgloss on my lips and rarely ever use color, so I was hesitant when she put on a lipstain and it had color! I ended up LOVING it and she wrote down the shade and brand so I could buy it! I was so impressed by her obvious LOVE of her profession, she is truly an artist that uses people as a canvas. Her patience and her attention to detail was truly awesome! She was very professional, but she was also sweet and funny!! I felt like I was hanging out with a friend when she was doing my makeup, which was certainly key, because had we sat there in awkward silence I would of grown bored and probably rushed her along. When she did my friends makeup (which also looked flawless) she took the time to explain how to recreate the look she was doing on her! Not only did she make me (and my friend) BEAUTIFUL but she also taught me SO much! I only have one complaint! That she does not live in florida!! If I had the money, I would fly her to florida to do the makeup for my wedding (perhaps I should work on getting my future hubby to fund that) lol. Thanks to Erin, I looked FLAWLESS in the tons of pictures my friends and I took during my bachelorette party. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!!

Where do I Start? !!! I sent a request to thumbtack requesting an makeup artist for my 10th anniversary, only one person responded which was Erin. I explained what I was looking for and she stated that she could do it and more. I sent her a picture of myself showing her a makeup job that my brother who is a professional makeup artist had did in the past, I also sent a photo to show I was a woman of color so she would know upfront whether she could do it or not. Her comments to me was sure I can do your makeup the same if not better. We had several conversations via txt prior to me arriving, March 11th I arrived and March 12th was the night I needed my makeup done, she asked what time was our reservations for dinner? I stated 8:45p she said she would be at the hotel at 7:30P(she was late and didn't show up until 7:45p) Upon coming up to the room she started to unpack all her makeup and I notice that she looked very unsure as if she didn't know where to start, all of her brushes were all over the bed and looked very shuffled as if she didn't know how which tools to use(I'm nervous at this point because we still aren't half way done and it's now 8:20p ) I sent a txt to my husband to push back out reservations, she then goes to tell me it's ok I'm late to everything so don't worry !!! Really!!!! OMG. Me being a extremely easy going person still pushed on because I wanted to look really pretty for my husband. She then says she's going to do a smoky eye( Which I told her from the start I didn't want) She proceeds to do it and then says it's time for me to put on my lipstick, I'm struggling to put on my lipstick without a mirror( Erin states I guess you need a mirror and hands it to me) OMG my face looked like a dead mans face, my nose looked extremely bruised from the smoky eye dust stuff that was mixed in with the makeup on my nose, MY FACE LOOKED HORRIBLE, I FELT LIKE CRYING BUT INSTEAD I TOLD HER I DONT LIKE IT(SHE TELLS ME I THINK YOUR JUST FREAKING OUT FOR NO REASON!!!!! I stated no I l know my skin tone and this isn't right. Erin then ask what do you want me to do I can fix it(it's not 9:05p) I said I think I'm going to do it myself- She says I'm so sorry I ruined your night, still trying to be nice I told her it's fine ( I asked how many women of color have you worked on-Erin stated your my 1st besides the lady that I did back in school 7yrs ago) I'm heated at this point,, I asked how much do you want-Erin responds just give me $50 , I said I wont do $50 but I will give you $30 for your time( Which she didn't deserve) She started crying saying that she asked a friend was her products good enough for this job and her friend said yeah you will be fine-Erin then said and I quote SHE SCREWED ME!!! On her way out she gave me a hug and said she was so sorry and promised in the future she's going to work more with women of color and when I come back to Charleston she will do my makeup for free. Erin also asked me am I going to leave a bad review I told her NO(I told Erin this is a lesson learned for you and I will not be nasty about it)She leaves I start to wash my face, my husband comes up and sees me trying to get my face back in order and gives me a huge hug and says he's sorry for what I went through. I finish my Makeup and get to the restaurant at 9:40p when originally it was for 8:45p(we had a nice evening despite the chaos) FAST FWRD TO 03/21/2016 I recive an email from THUMBTACK STATING ERIN REPORTED THAT SHE WASN"T PAID IN FULL......... ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!! I called the number as requested and explained my side, the REP apologized for my experience and stated if I were you I would have posted a review, I explained to him I was really trying to be nice and didn't want to hurt any of her future business, I thought she learned a lesson and I was going to leave it there. HOWEVER upon receiving that email I felt compelled to write a review so anyone looking for a PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP ARTIST doesn't hire her, She should have told me upfront that she's never worked on a LADY OF COLOR that way I could have kept looking or did my own makeup. And then to still receive $30 from me even though she didn't derserve it for misleading me and being late and causing me to be more than an HR late to something so special to me and my husband. WORDS CANT EXPLAIN HOW UPSET AND HURT MY FEELINGS ARE FOR BEING SO NICE TO SOMEONE EVEN THOUGH THEY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME

How did you get started doing this type of work?
All my life I have loved skincare and make up!!! So to me the most interesting thing that I wanted to do was become a clinical esthetician and a professional makeup artist!! Even as a kid and on through my teens I would be the one of my friends doing everyone's makeup and hair before events. Even just nights out. But I just remember how I always would do it and leave no time for myself ( even though I always pulled it off). I did that because I loved the art of makeup and I loved making people feel great about the way they look!
What types of customers have you worked with?
bridal/event makeup, facials, waxing, makeup lessons! I love making people feel gorgeous and I love being able to be an artist!!! A great makeup application can totally change the way a person looks if I do a lot of contour or as simple as just a great eye, lip, and skin!!
