How does your service stand out?

Hi, I'm Emily! I'm a photographer based in Columbia, SC specializing in portraits & weddings. I strive to make Emily Ann Photography a people-centered business. I truly get to know my clients and so many of them end up being good friends. We work together to carefully plan our sessions & most of all, we have fun!

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

I love capturing the important details: the curve of your little boy's smile, the shape you take as you balance a toddler on your hip, the sparkle in your eye when he opens the ring box, the smile that curls on your mom's lips as you walk down the aisle. These little moments are gone in an instant, but the photos I snap allow you to hold onto them forever. I love that! I love the anticipation of the right moment and the joy of handing your carefully prepared images to you. I like to think of you hanging them on your walls, framing them on your nightstand, and showing them off to friends. Thank you for the opportunity!

    Fabulous experience!
Emily was very delightful to work with! I was very apprehensive about having a photo-shoot done because my two year old can take some time warming up to people, making something like a simple photo-shoot, in my mind, a nightmare! Have no fear! Emily was amazing with my daughter. She introduced herself, was willing to get silly, and opened my little one right up! Our shoot was a big success and I am very pleased with the photos! Overall a great experience! I look forward to working with Emily again!

Emily is a true artist, not just a photographer. She is very creative and has an eye for a great shot. She didn't miss an amazing portrait moment at our outdoor family photo session. She commanded the session very well, very politely, and very fun and energetic. We highly recommend Emily for your photo shoot. She was better than expected and we will be recommending her to all our friends.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When I hear from a prospective new client, I like to reach out by email and set up a quick phone call if possible. I find it's easiest to chat over the phone to answer questions and get to know one another. I then send a photography proposal via email. Clients can look over the details and select their package, sign the contract, and pay their retainer fee all at once to reserve their date. It's quick and easy!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I mostly work with families, newborns, engaged couples & wedding day couples.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I just finished a family beach session in Isle of Palms, SC. The session lasted about 1 hour and it was absolutely gorgeous! The family showed up in beautifully coordinated outfits, all smiles, and the sunset light was amazing. We laughed a lot, their baby boy did some rolling in the sand, we ran, we splashed, and we wrapped up just as we were losing the light. I couldn't wait to get home and edit their images & they did not disappoint.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Think about your end goal. Is it important to you to invest in quality photography or is the cost your deciding factor? Look at your photographer's work and evaluate their style. Does it match what you're looking for? Chat with your photographer on the phone. Do they seem like someone you'll get along with and will be comfortable working with? These things are so important. You're trusting this person to capture your family's most precious moments.
