This was/is a tough one to write but I want to be honest. My wife and I discovered a leak in our ceiling. They were responsive and the owner called me right away. They talked me through the process and it all seemed very simple. It has not been simple. They tore out a large section of the wall and ceiling and did the mitigation. Set up dehumidifiers and drained them into a trash can. Turned out the trash can had a hole in it and as it collected water, began pouring that on the floor. They were nice. Then came the rebuild. The quote I got was over 6700 and included the painting of multiple rooms and the ceiling, drywall repair in other rooms not impacted, all sorts of things. I feel it was an attempt to nickel and dime the insurance. I decided to seek another option for rebuild. Turns out the 3ftx3ft area should only cost about 10% of that. I don’t want to take them over the coals too bad but it was not the best experience. I do appreciate their assistant for portions and the owner was very nice.

Lightspeed Restoration of Greenville's reply
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience—we genuinely appreciate the feedback and the opportunity to address your concerns. First, I want to acknowledge the issue with the dehumidifier drainage. That’s not the standard we hold ourselves to, and we should have caught that immediately. I’m sorry for the inconvenience that caused. Regarding the rebuild scope, I want to clarify an important point for transparency. The estimate that was prepared was not an attempt to overcharge or “nickel and dime,” but rather to ensure the property is restored correctly and consistently. The ceiling in your home is continuous across the floor, which means that a localized repair often results in visible differences in texture, finish, and color. To avoid mismatched areas and ensure a uniform final result, industry-standard practice is to extend repairs and painting across connected surfaces. Additionally, the estimate is reviewed and approved by the insurance adjuster, which means it aligned with accepted pricing, scope, and restoration standards. We work with them to make sure that they are in agreement with the scope of work before we begin work. We completely understand and respect your decision to explore other options for the rebuild portion. Our goal is always to provide a complete solution that avoids future issues or noticeable inconsistencies, but we recognize every homeowner has to make the decision that’s best for them. We do appreciate your acknowledgment of our responsiveness and communication—that’s something we take pride in. If there’s anything further we can do to help or clarify, we’re always available.
