Emma took care of our house and our dog while out of town. She is reliable and responsible, we couldn't have been more pleased. Our dog was very content staying in her own home and not being boarded. She is just great!!!

Ray is very sweet and my dog seems to really like her. They both get exercise it's a win, win! She gives me updates after each walk, and I feel like my dog is getting good care when I'm working.

I love animals. I guarantee that if you hire me, they will be well took care of. Pets are one of the pleasures in life. I have two dogs myself.

I provide dog training and behavior modification. Basic training includes such as sit, down, stay, and more advanced training such as come, hidden stay, boundary, and down from a distance.

Because I absolutely love dogs, and they love me. I bring a calming effect on animals having bread and raised them since I was a small girl.

I can train your dog with manners, backyard obedience, and respect. A happy dog has a happy family. I come to your home, see what you need, and we start from there.

I have only cared for my own and family's dogs. I would like to help people who need their dogs walked or kept during the day while they work. I have cared for relatives and neighbors' dogs while out of town. It would be limited to 30 lbs and under. I am a 74-year-old lady and just love dogs.

I have been pet sitting for over ten years and have been a dog trainer for five years. I have a strong passion for animals and work as a pet nutrition consultant. I have four dogs of my own, all miniature dachshunds, which are my absolute loves! I bring them to field trails, agility, therapy work, etc., and they just love it. I have worked with multiple breeds of dogs in the past as well as cats. I also have experience with small animals, reptiles and fish. I am comfortable giving medications also.

Hi! Let me walk your dog. I'm safe and dependable, and your furry friends will be in the best of care.

I love sitting with small animals. I love playing and walking them. I'm willing to clean up after -- if inside only.

I am just an individual who loves dogs. I have three of my own. I am looking for a fun and simple job. I would love to walk an owner's dogs.

I groom cats and dogs. I have 5 years of all-breed experience. I studied under a certified national master groomer and can hand strip. I do house-call grooming which means if you provide a place for me to set up, I will come to your house. Most of my clients have neighbors and friends come over to one house and I groom 6-8 dogs in a day.

I do housecleaning. I am friendly and efficient and will do any cleaning that you need done. I also walk dogs or cats.

I am unique and one of a kind! I work harder than anyone I know. I am a true animal lover, not just a sitter.

We provide private basic to advanced obedience for canines. We have trained several pet therapy dogs that have passed special screenings to allow them into medical settings to visit patients. We also provide private doggie day care in the city of Chattanooga on our two fenced-in acres, as well as house calls up to a 30-mile radius of Chattanooga.

I walk dogs so that they stay in shape, active, and happy. Your pet needs regular exercise to be the best version they can be of themselves. I can provide that for them.

I will perform dog walking while you work or dog sitting while you shop. I was born and raised on a farm, so I naturally have a love for all animals. However, dogs have always been my first love. So for the 20 years, I've made it my business to build some very loyal friendships with all breeds, ages and sizes. Dogs truly are a girl's best friend. I only have one of my own because she is my first love. I've had her for 14 yr. I also have five grand dogs and 11 kennel kids who meet me at the car every time I arrive. If you need a good, reliable and loving dog sitter, I'm your girl. Your pups will thank you for it.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

  • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
  • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
  • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
  • What are your different walk routes?
  • When will you pick up and drop off?
  • How will we communicate?
  • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
  • What’s your cancellation policy?
  • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
  • How and how often do I pay you?
  • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.
