About this pro

How does your service stand out?

I think it's my commitment to creating livable interiors that include a few unique and one-of-a-kind pieces. I have a well-honed eye for seeing past the dated finishes and fabrics of an old piece of furniture and being able to reimagine it with new paint and/or fabric to make it relevant to today's design styles. Pieces like your great aunt's dining chairs, or even a roadside rescue with great "bones" - they have a unique charm and character that adds so much to a space! It's funny because its these types of things that are usually the client's favorite element of the overall design - and you can be certain you won't walk into your neighbor's place and see the same piece in her house!

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

Honestly, I absolutely love my job and I feel incredibly blessed to get up every morning and be able to practice what I love! I think it really comes down to the relationships I build with my clients. I want all of my clients to experience the joy of living in a well-designed home!

Kim was great to work with! We got colors for the whole house picked out which was what I primarily wanted help with from a designer. She's a good listener and gave good advice that fit my style.

Kim did an amazing job crafting a design plan for us. I am a Creative Director and was seriously stuck on my own design. I had an eclectic and traditional idea for my house but couldn't get my ideas together. She brought us idea that both my husband and I both loved. I would recommend her to my close friends and to anyone that wants a great looking house!

What types of customers have you worked with?
Each and every client and job is unique. The Green Room Interiors has been involved in everything from paint color consultations to completely making over a space from the rug to the chandelier (and everything in between). We strive to tailor each job to the clients needs - whether it's just offering some creative suggestions in a consultation or updating a home with new accessories and art.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I think pictures are worth a thousand words. Visit the potential designer's websites and/or ask to see their portfolio. Do the spaces they have designed reveal anything about the person living there, or do they just look like an assemblage of coordinating furniture pieces? Even though the rooms you see may not reflect your own style, pay attention to how the rooms feel. So many details go into a well designed space (such as the effective use of scale, balance, repetition, color and pattern) but in the end it's really about the big picture, and how effectively the client's personality is reflected. I also recommend that clients get referrals from the designer's current or former clients. Ask them how their experience was working with a particular decorator, and whether or not they would recommend that decorator!
